"We're dysfunctionional but in a way that works. Maybe."Ohio, America
October, 2015LUCY SAT IMPECCABLY STILL AS Klause grasped a lock of her hair, moving the comb in his hand carefully. The sound of snipping besides her ear caused her to nearly flinch, but Klause stopped all movement as he noticed the stiffness in her shoulders. He waited and Lucy forced herself to relax as he resumed trimming her hair. Her gaze remained on the mirror, tracking Klause's movements cautiously.
The length of her hair had become a nuisance, but Lucy had kept her complaining to a minimum. In fact, she didn't complain about it at all. She kept to herself like she usually did, fiddling with her locks of hair with a desire to cut it off. She couldn't, of course, not with a normal hairdresser. Cutting her hair was out of the question, and Klause knew that just as much as she did.
Perhaps that's why he noticed the slight irritation she had towards the strands framing her face.
"I have done this for Ms. Xialing before, Lucy. I can assure you I am better than average." Klause said as he closed the scissors, a lock of hair falling. "Otherwise I wouldn't be alive."
Lucy's anxiety settled slightly as amusement replaced the feeling. She gazed at him through the mirror, watching as snippets of hair fell to the floor. From what she could see he was cutting layers in her hair. She didn't really know what he was up to, but her head did feel lighter while looking completely different from what HYDRA had done.
Pierce was the only one who'd ever ordered her hair to be cut above her ears. The agents before him had always boycotted the idea with their superiors. There was a reason why she and James had hair that reached their shoulders. It was a good handle for the agents to grab if they ever bashed the two weapons against the floor if it was ever needed.
But Pierce hadn't cared. He did whatever made him satisfied.
She supposed Klause would know that, too.
"Ms. Xialing's hair is very precious." Klause continued. "If I had ruined it I am sure she would've hated me."
Lucy couldn't help the small chuckle that escaped her lips. Klause paused for a moment, before continuing to snip at her hair. She adjusted the towel around her shoulders, waiting patiently for Klause to finish cutting at her hair.
"Your laugh is very beautiful, Lucy." He said observantly.
Lucy stared at him through the mirror with a flash of surprise. Her cheeks burned for a moment as she fidgeted with her sleeves. Klause stopped cutting her hair, placing the scissors on the bathroom sink.
