"Trust is always a choice."Wakanda, East Africa
July, 2016THE CLATTER OF BLADES RANG in the air as silver clashed against silver. Lucy grinned with amusement as her opponent dropped to the ground, kicking out his leg with a sharp twist. Lucy jumped, before swinging her arm, tilting her blade with it. He stood to his feet sharply, using his blade to catch hers. It was a fight of pure strength, and Lucy used her other hand to grip her dagger. She pressed harder, until his blade clattered to the ground.
James huffed, wrapping his hand around her wrist. She dropped the blade in her hand, grasping it with the other as she lowered herself into a crouch, shoving him backwards. She sat atop him, blade pressed to his throat. He rolled his eyes, and Lucy slowly pulled the blade away from his throat. She flipped it in her hand, before placing it in the sheathe tethered to her cargo pants.
James suddenly leaned upwards, grabbing onto her neck and turning both of them over. She let out an unceremonious 'oof' as she hit the ground with a loud thud. His lips curled upwards into a smirk as he pressed a knee against her shoulder, blade tilted against her chin.
"Expect the unexpected." He winked.
He leaned down and pecked her cheek, grinning triumphantly as he sat back, letting Lucy pull herself to a sitting position. She crossed her arms over her chest, shaking her head at him. Her eyes were alight with amusement, however, as he sheathed his blade as well.
Lucy grabbed ahold of his cheeks, squishing them.
He pouted.
"You've gotten sloppy." She said pointedly, letting go of his cheeks. "You've been out of cryo for an entire day."
James rolled his eyes at her. She held a hand out towards him, and he took it, balancing on his feet. He stared at her, and Lucy couldn't help the laugh that left her lips. He shook his head at her antics, nudging her with his foot.
"Jesus, you're missing an arm, love." Lucy grinned cheekily. "Of course you'll be a little slow."
James raised an eyebrow.
"I could have still taken you." He huffed.
Lucy raised her eyebrow as well, activating her abilities. Black shards danced across her fingertips.
"You sure about that?" She questioned.
James poked her cheek.
"That's cheating." He sing-songed. "Put the scary black spikes away."
