Chapter 16

(Tegans POV) 

Normally I would go straight from school to the studio but I was told not to come over for at least an hour. I'm not stupid, I know what they are doing. I just sat around my house for an hour, Jess and Charlotte were busy working on something I'm assuming was for me in the kitchen, because they put up a sign on the kitchen door that read 'No entry until further notice' with a smiley face at the bottom, dad was out working, mom was shopping, but left a note on my door that said she went out to get something for me. It was funny to me because that's what it actually said. Sara left so I was on my own. I sat around bored for an hour until I was on my way out the door, not before stopping by the kitchen. I stood outside the door and yelled,

"Hey Jess? Charlotte?" 

"Don't come in!" Jess quickly said.

"I'm not, I'm not." I replied. "Just letting you know I'm meeting the band so I'm on my way out."

"Okay see you." I heard Charlotte say. "Oh wait! Don't be out all night we have something for you when you get back!"

"I won't." I said walking away from the door. "See you later."

(Luke's POV)

"Where have you been?" Alex asked as I ran through the studio doors.

"And what is that?" Reggie asked pointing to the guitar case in my hand. I quickly shut the doors behind be and looked at Reggie.

"It's a violin Reg." I said sarcastically. "And to answer you question Alex, I was at Jacks hoping he could help me. With this." I said holding up the guitar. 

"That's not yours is it?" Bobby asked. 

"Nah, it's Tegans." I said walking over to hide the guitar in the bathroom.

"I didn't know she had a guitar." Reggie asked confused.

"She doesn't, I mean she does know." I said joining them on the couch.

"You bought it for her?" Bobby asked.

"Yeah I did, it's for her birthday. Just the present from us to her" I answered. 

"From us?" Alex asked. "You bought it, you should say from you to her."

"Well did you guys get her anything?" I asked.

"The party and the food in the back is all from us." Bobby said.

"You guys got food and decorations all set up in a an hour?" I asked looking over the couch at the table of food up against the back wall. "The place looks really good by the way." I said admiring the few balloons and streamers around the room. The room fell silent until Alex asked,

"Anyone else wondering why she never told us that her birthday was so soon?"

"Maybe she planned on telling us then she missed school?" Reggie said trying to give her the benefit of the doubt.

"But that's the thing, she missed the entire weekend which was weird then school?" Alex continued. "She never misses school."

"I'll admit I don't have the best feeling about it either but never mind that right now," I began as Bobby got up, walking towards the doors. "All that matters is that we know now, and we're here to celebrate, than we have a gig tomorrow." The three of us nodded in agreement. "So other than the party did you guys get her anything?"

"Yeah why don't you tell us what it is?" Bobby said from the door, Tegan by his side.

"Awwww, man. We were going to hide, so we could jump out and yell surprise." Reggie said disappointment in his voice.
