(Tegan's POV)

"You guys were great!" Alex says to Luke and I as we met up with them outside after our song. "I really love that song."

"Thanks. And Yeah, I love that song too." I nodded. The other three boys followed Luke and I out the front door.

"Hey guys." Jaden says to the group before saying to Alex, "Good to see you again."

"Yeah, you too." He smiles. "I loved your song too."

"Thanks." He says, "I thought you would."

"Is it about being gay?" Alex asks, still with a smile.

"Yeah, I wrote it about myself becoming comfortable with being gay." Jaden answers.

"I had a feeling." Alex says, "You gotta teach me to write like that. All I know how to do is put drums to their lyrics." Alex nods to me and Luke. Luke opened his mouth to ask why he was never asked, but I put a hand on his arm so he hesitated to Jaden could answer first.

"Yeah, that would be fun!" He says, "Hey, I'm headed out to my favorite sandwich place for lunch if you guys want to come?"

"Oh, well Luke and I are hanging out today, but Alex, you should totally go!" I jumped in before anyone else could.

"We were going to-" Luke began to say we were planning to rehearse today, before I nudged him a little. "Probably go... walk the beach or something? But yeah dude, you can totally go."

"You guys sure?" Alex asks. "You don't want to rehearse today?"

"Oh, we deserve a day off." I waved my hand. "Besides, if you get back today and we get to rehearsal, we do, if you don't we don't. Not like we have any shows this week, anyway."

"But we do have a show this week." Bobby adds.

"Bobby, no one asked you." I quickly said. "See you after, Alex?" I turned with Luke, motioning Bobby and Reggie along.

"Your matchmaking is not subtle, at all." Luke says to me after we were a ways down the sidewalk.

"Yeah, I know." I shrug.

"Business has been slow lately." Luke sighs leaning up against my locker in-between classes. "We gotta get more shows on the calendar."

"We have a show literally tomorrow." I reminded him.

"And do we have any more after that?" He asks back.

"No... I guess not." I realized.

"I think I can help you with that." A third voice says from the other side of my locker door. I recognized the guy, sort of. I just couldn't exactly place him. "You're Tegan, right?"

"Yeah?" I asked. "Do I know you from somewhere?"

"Yeah, I'm Luis." He nods. "We were bio partners when we were freshman."

"Oh! Yeah, I remember now!" I shut my locker. "Why do you think you can help us?"

"I'm on the prom committee, and we're looking for some live music for prom." He says.

"Wait, you want us?" I ask after he just stared at us for a couple seconds.

"I mean, you're the only band in school." He shrugs. "And also, you guys did Homecoming, and you guys were pretty good."

"We've grown since then." Luke adds, "I don't know if we're still at the level of high school dance."

"Well, while that may be true, you literally just said we need to get more shows in?" I said to him before turning back to Luis. "You know what, we'll think about it."
