(Tegan's POV)
"Hey you." My sister says standing in my door.
"Hey." I said scribbling some changes down in my song book.
"I brought a friend." She says shuffling into my room, I was expecting Jess or Charlotte behind her, but it was my mom instead. My mom shut my door and they both sat down on either side of my bed. "Whatcha working on?"
"Just a song." I answered.
"What song?" She asks back.
"I'm not really sure yet, I've got a concept for a song, but I don't have it all figured out yet." I shrugged. That's when I noticed my mom had placed the vase with the flowers Luke got me on my bedside table.
"What's his name again?" My mom asks I looked back at the flowers.
"Luke." I answered.
"You know your sister never had a guy bring her flowers in high school." She says.
"Okay, mom." Sara laughs. "Tegan runs with a better crown than I did in high school. And she has better taste in guys." She points to my book I held a bit closer to my chest. "See there's a reason she won't let us see the unfinished song. It's because it's about him."
"Bold of you to make assumptions." I said.
"Look at this picture!" She pointed to the photo on the inside of my guitar case. "He's way cuter than any of my high school boyfriends."
"By a long shot." My mom adds. "But Tegan, why don't you tell me about him? Any boy who takes my daughter out better be a good one."
"Mom, it's just prom." I reminded her. "I don't even know if it's going to be fun, I just thought since it's the last one, I'd give it a try."
"Still, I want to know about him." She says.
"Really?"
"Really." She nods. "I made a huge mistake with your sister. I wasn't open to any of her relationships, so she went behind my back, with not the greatest of people."
"And Bad Romance was born." Sara says.
"But my point is," My mom laughs, "I want to know about him. What about him do you like?"
"A... lot of things." I hesitated with a smile. "He really cares about me. And he's really passionate, about everything he does. We share the same dreams. I love when we write together, and performing together..."
"You see?" Sara nods at me. "The difference in the way she talks about her boyfriend compared to the way I talked about mine?"
"Okay, Sara." My mom says. " You don't have to convince me. You may have to convince your father though, Tegan."
"I know, I probably will." I sighed. "I'm glad you're on my side with this."
"Ah- I still gotta officially meet the kid." She reminds me.
"Oh, please don't say-"
"How about dinner one night?" She suggested.
"Oh, I was afraid you were going to say that." I said.
"Why is that?" She chuckles.
"His parents want me over for dinner at his place too." I answer. "And I don't know how they know, because he hasn't officially told them yet, and it's not like they come to the shows."
"Well, guess what? Now you're having dinner with him twice, because you don't really get a choice."
