(Christmas in March? Huh?)
8th december 2019
"ok, that's all of them" david spoke as he got the last box of Christmas decorations out of the attic. "yay!" i smiled walking over to the boxes, last weekend myself and david had put up the Christmas tree but we both didn't have anytime to decorate it and the rest of the apartment until now.
david lifted the lid off of the box filled with Christmas tree ornaments, these decorations were all ones from David's childhood, and since this was our first time decorating a place for christmas this was the first time i had seen them. i reached down a grabbed an ornament, a little teddy bear with David's name on it "aww this is so cute" i said in awe, as i turned it around for david to see, he just rolled his eyes "we're not putting that on the tree" i smirked at him as i walked over to the tree and hung it on a branch "yes we are" i whispered as i walked back over to him and pecked his lips, before we both continued going through the box.
after a few more ornaments i came across on, it was a ceramic angel, written on it was '(David's mom's name)' I smiled down at it, "what are you smiling at?" david asked as he walked over to me and sat down next to me on the couch. "oh, that" he smiled, reaching and taking it out of my hands softly "this is one of my favourites" i spoke, leaning my head on his shoulder "mine too, you know, even though i was just a toddler when she passed, i remember when my dad got this ornament, i remember him handing it to me and saying 'this is mommy's special ornament, go put it on a special spot davey', to which i waddled over to the tree and placed it on the highest branch i could reach, 'love you momma' i said" he spoke, turning to look at me.
tears welled up in my eyes "that's so cute davey" i spoke, pecking his cheek, before resting my head back down onto his shoulder. "do you wanna put it on the tree, angel?" he asked me, "are you sure?" i asked, lifting my head up, he simply nodded before handing the precious ornament back to me.
i stood up and carefully placed it on the top branch of the tree, right next to where the star would later be placed. david walked over to me, standing next to me, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me in close to him, as i rested my head back onto his shoulder once more.
"right where she should be" i spoke, as I looked up at david to see that he was already looking down at me. "I wish i couldve actually known her, my dad was mad about her" he spoke, sighing "from what you've told me, she seemed like the sweetest person" i smiled, lifting me hand up to rest on his cheek. "yeah, she does" he smiled, looking back over at the ornament on the tree, and then back over to me. "I love you, Angel" he smiled, "I love you too" i replied, before leaning up and pulling him into a soft kiss.
excited to spend our first christmas together.
