"Kya halat banayi hai tumne apne aap ki? Sharam aati hai mujhe tumhe meri beti bulake...."
Aarohi shut her eyes, as she gulped down all the pain.
"Ye rishta nahi hoga, aise ladki ke saath koi kaise saath reh payega?"
Fisting her hand, she let her knuckles turn white, Bade Papa's words hit her like a storm.
"Karthik aur Naira ki beti ho tum, humara nahi, par apne swargvaas maa-baap ka toh lihaaz kar leti..."
"Humne toh isse Doctor banaya tha na? Ye nashedi kab ban gayi?"
"Aaj tumne hamara dil tod diya hai Aarohi, kabhi maaf nahi karenge tumhe."
"ENOUGH!" Aarohi screamed, shutting her ears, and before she knew it, she was breathing heavily and disturbed and a familiar voice brought her back to realty.
"Geez, relax, I'll leave if my mere presence irks you."
Neil Birla, stood concerned in front of her and she lowered her hands and shook her head, relaxing back in the lounge seat. She had sneaked out of their room once Akshara had slept, and although she tried, she could not sleep after the old bruises lay open again.
"Itni raat ko yaha kya kar rahi ho? Koi chipkala aa raha hai, tumhe lene?" Neil laughed at his own silly comment as he placed his hands in his pockets, and walked closer only to hear her sigh.
"Listen..."
"I am sorry."
Aarohi met Neil's genuine eyes, his expressions were more genuine than comical, "Sorry?"
"Mujhe nahi pata tha ki tum sach main bimar thi..."
She shook her head, "it's cool, tumhe maafi nahi mangni chahiye, main selfish hu." Neil gulped nervously when she casually shrugged, "aur waise bhi, you were right, we should have left early last night..."
"You okay now?"
"Been better, thanks."
Instead of leaving, Neil sat besides her, on the other chair and they both leaned back and saw the night sky with no moon but one shining bright star. It was way past midnight and the hotel lawn really looked pretty with the lamp lights and dimmed bulbs, the trees were decorated with fairy lights and the stony pathway was also lit with cute lights.
They stayed that way for some time, Aarohi resting her eyes as she took kept breathing silently and Neil mesmerized by the cool night, and especially the girl next to him who looked a little more prettier in the dimmed lights.
"Acchi wali feeling aa rahi hai, bas koi melancholy music lage toh mahol ban jaaye." Neil chuckled when he broke their silence, and Aarohi heard him, eyes shut, "I don't even remember the last time I spent time under the night sky. Almost all the time in these three years I have had either my laptop or mobile constantly with me, always working and always busy. It is nice to take a break some times."
Aarohi nodded, opening her eyes and fixating her gaze on the lamp lights, "I have heard a lot about your gaming company, did you guys not won the start-up of the year award just last summer?"
"Wow, I am surprised you know this," Neil turned to look at the salient Aarohi, a different natured girl than he knew, "but yes, we did win."
"Akshara keeps talking about you a lot," Aarohi wrapped her hands on her knees, and Neil witnessed a smile linger on her lips, "Neil ne ye kiya, Neil ne woh kiya, Neil ka naya game launch hone wala hai, Neil itna successful hai."
