18. Aarohi Goenka

"So?"

"So?"

"Kya plan hai aaj ka?"

"Plan?"

"Haan, hum ek team hai right?"

"Par woh plan toh Akshu-Abhi ne pehle hi scrap kar diya tha,"

"Par, hum aise bhi toh time spend kar sakte hai?"

"Kyon, tumhe mere saath time spend kyu karna hai?"

"Kyon nahi, abh hum friends hai right?"

Aarohi narrowed her gaze at Neil who was raising his eyebrows in delight, "you are slowly making me regret my decision to be friends with you."

"Haww," Neil exclaimed, and before Aarohi could leave, he towered her, "ek dinn bhi nahi hua humari dosti ko, aur tum aise baatein kar rahi ho."

Aarohi met his eyes, she was somehow used to this level of proximity between them, "atleast I am truthful."

"Are you though?" He asked, rather whispered while leaning closer and Aarohi gulped, she could not hold the eye-lock anymore, warmth creeping on her cheeks.

"Neil," She took a step back and he did too, "tum subah subah shuru ho gaye," They were in line for the breakfast buffet and after the most depressing Tilak ceremony, Aarohi and Neil were planning ways to get Akshara to talk to Aarohi.

"Mazak kar raha hu," He got behind her to take an empty plate, "waise aaj breakfast main kuch non-veg hai?"

Aarohi frowned at the man searching over the dishes of vegertarian spread, "hum sab pure veg hai, tumhari and humari family included."

"Haan, toh?" Neil shrugged, trying to squint his eyes to see if he could spot something tasty over the counter, "I don't judge you for being pure veg right."

"Duffer ho tum," She shook her head, placing the idli and dosa in her plate, "I meant, we are all veg so obviously, humne pura wedding package veg hi liya hoga na."

"Oh, point," Neil nodded, muttering bad luck under his breath as he also placed the south indian dishes in his plate, "waise, you are smarter than I give credit for, chipkali."

"I am a doctor,"

"Haan, toh aaj kal paise de ke bhi degree milti hai." He added the sambhar to his bowl, ignoring Aarohi's icy glares. "Sabudana vada dikh raha hai?"

"Tumse behas karna matlab ek dewaar pe apna sar patakna." She replied, placing the upma in her plate, "and can we just focus on making my sister talk to me than you and your bakwass,"

"Oh, toh aapki baatein shayari, aur meri baatein bakwass?"

"Neil, yaar," Aarohi groaned, as they moved ahead. "Look, there is your sabudana vada," She pointed to her near left and Neil excitedly reached out to it from behind her and Aarohi froze, his face was just aligned to hers and she held her breath, while Neil gulped, her hair smelled like a fresh flowers and lavender, pulling him closer and blinding his senses as he breathed slowly, his warm breath hitting her earlobe and Aarohi held the spoon firmly.

It took everything for her to not turn and face him, and face this attraction and finish it once and for all but their family were seated not so far away and now was not the time to confront their infatuation or this tension, now was the time to let Akshara have a happy wedding.

The clattering of the spoons from the staff, broke their trance and Aarohi moved out quickly, while Neil sighed, placing the vada in his plate and following the girl to their huge family table. Akshara and Aarohi were as always seated together, Abhimanyu next to Akshara and Neil besides Abhimanyu, while the family was now talking about the engagement ceremony to be held in two days. That was also when the guests would pour in, and there were some five hundred people that the Birlas' and the Goenkas' had invited and almost the entire Hotel was booked for the coming week.
