Bonus (1b) badi badi aankhein
Aarohi froze, looking at the nameplate outside the door and took a deep breath, this was getting more difficult than she thought it would. She gulped, fisting her hand as she took a step back, half a mind to leave before she could even enter.
"What do you mean that you are not coming?"
"It means I am not coming," Aarohi replied, clearly done with the conversation, she adjusted the cell on her shoulder as she wrote the prescription for her patient. "I cannot come, Akshu, understand."
"Aaru, you know that Abhir aur Kaira tere bagair apna birthday celebrate nahi karenge," Akshara's soft voice only added more pain to Aarohi's already conflicted mind. "You just have to show up, I am sure no one will say anything to you, I'll make sure..."
"Baat woh nahi hai, Akshu," Aarohi stopped writing and held the mobile in her hand, trying her best to explain things to her sister, "Kitna awkward hoga, for me, for the Birlas. Seriously?"
"Haan seriously!" Akshara screamed from the call, and Aarohi had to put the mobile away from her ear for split second, "tu Birlas' ki bahu ya Neil ki girlfriend bann ke nahi, mere Abhira ki massi hai, aur uss haq se you have to be there, I do not know anything..."
"Akshu..."
But Akshara had cut the call immediately and Aarohi shut her eyes, sighing.
"Aaru baccha?" Kairav snapped in front of her, "chal,"
Aarohi shook her head, teary eyed and scared, more so to face the man who's heart she had shattered so neatly. "Bhaiya, mujhse nahi hoga." Kairav looked at Tara and they shared a nod, leaving the former with his sister, Tara left with little Karika and Kairav faced his sister.
"I know that you and Neil are facing some problems in your relationship right now," Kairav said, holding Aarohi's hand softly.
Problems? More like they were approaching the end, she wanted to add but did not.
"But Akshu is ours, right? And if you are going to let this get between our relationship, it is only going to get messier. Plus, Neil bhi tujhe utna hi miss kar raha hoga, jitna tu usse kar rahi hai." Aarohi's vision blurred, she shook her head and hugged her brother. "Mera sabse samjhdar baccha hai tu, hai na?" Aarohi sniffed, letting her brother's scent calm her nervousness and guilt, "bas thodi derr, and we all are going to be with you."
"You promise?"
"I swear,"
And after wiping Aarohi's tears, Kairav smiled at her and they entered the house. The Birlas' greeted the Goenkas' with hands folded and a smile on their faces, all the while Aarohi hiding behind her brother for comfort, eyes lowered and guilt enveloping her at how sweet the Birlas' were with her and her family.
"AARUUUU!"
Akshara crushed into a hug with her sister, so much that Aarohi had to take a step back to hold herself from falling nevertheless hugging her sister back and Aarohi felt at home instantly. The girls then hugged their brother, one at each side as Kairav felt like a happy father, hugging his girls and kissing their hair with a teary vision. Both the families' smiled at the trio, and their hug was forcefully broken by the set of twins who ran towards Aarohi and demanded she picked them. Aarohi chuckled, kneeling down and hugging both the kids who planted their soft kisses on her cheeks and Kaira hugged Aarohi from behind, while Abhir from the front and Aarohi smiled, Karika was pulled by Kaira in the group hug.
"Oh my babies," Aarohi sniffed, hugging all her kids, these three were worth all the treasures in the world for her, "I missed you so much."
While Akshara and Kairav had happy smiles on their faces watching their baby sister be such a baby with their babies, Neil who had just stepped out of his room could not help but tilt his head in awe at how Aarohi was with kids. She was always so soft with kids, so different and raw with them, it was like she was her true self whenever she was with little kids and seeing her so happy with the kids, melted his heart instantly. He was supposed to keep his heart away from the siren-mermaid, yet just one smile of hers and he was a goner.
