39. something to handle
"Aloo chat, muttar paneer, chole bhature aur bhindi fry bhi!" Aarohi's facial expressions kept changing, each more horrifying than the other as she looked at the plate, rather a platter which Akshara wanted to eat. "Ye sab kya hai, Akshu?" Aarohi immediately took the plate away and Akshara groaned aloud like a kid, eyeing her sister.
"Aaru, mujhe bhook lagi hai, please wapas de."
"No way," Aarohi shook her head, ignoring Akshara's pleas and puppy eyes, "parso shaadi hai, Akshu. You won't fit in the lehenga if you keep eating all of this and no one has time for another fitting, please curb it until after your marriage. I'll treat you with the finest cuisine, I swear, but just eat something simple for tonight and tomorrow."
Akshara immediately looked at Kairav, who was seated next to her and eating his food in peace. "Bhaiya..." She pleaded, pouting and eyeing the tasty food and Kairav looked at Akshara and then at Aarohi when the latter cleared her throat.
"Sorry Akshu,"
Akshara did the most mature thing, and stomped her foot in anger garnering attention from the rest of the Goenkas' and Aarohi rolled her eyes. "Akshara, stop behaving like a kid, I'll get you something simple from the counter." But Akshara rolled her eyes at Aarohi's offer, "Akshu..."
"If you do not let me eat what I want, you and me," She pointed at them both, making Aarohi to want to roll her eyes harder at the drama, "this is over."
Kairav gasped, plopping in a huge piece of bhature in his mouth, fully immersed in the sister's quarrel.
"You did not just compare our sisterhood to your dinner." Aarohi replied, tilting her head and challenging Akshara to take back what she said only for Akshara to tilt her head the other side.
"I just did," She met Aarohi's stare, "give me my dinner back, Aaru, I. AM. HUNGRY."
"Aarohi," Manish who was on the other table, being able to hear the duo called the younger one, "Give the dinner back to Akshu, you know she is with us only for two days now."
"But Bade Papa, isse lehenga fit nahi hua toh main nahi jaane wali isske saath last minute." Aarohi turned towards Manish Goenka, "you want to take that responsibility, then I'll let her have the dinner."
Akshara nodded from behind her, but Manish sighed, shrugging, "sorry Akshu, Aaru sahi keh rahi hai."
And with the Supreme Court Judge decided for them, Akshara sat back with a thud and Aarohi flipped her hair a little, happy to win. A little at comfort to see their Bade Papa siding with her for once and for Akshara, she stepped to the buffet to get something light and fillable for her hangry mood. She got them both some dal khichdi, a staple meal their mom would make for them when they were mad at each other. The simple food and to eat it from the same dish would wash their anger away.
This time however, there was disrupting in the plan, because the moment Aarohi stepped back with the food, she saw a brand new plate with all of Akshara's favourite cuisine and a very smirking Neil sitting next to her sister.
"Akshu, I told you to not have this right?" Aarohi demanded, slamming the plate on the table. "Aur tum yaha kya kar rahe ho?"
"Miss Chipkali-ji," Neil stood up to face the mad Aarohi, "bhai is not allowed to meet bhabhi, devar kuch bhi kar sakta hai." He raised his brows and now it was Aarohi's turn to act childish as she looked at Akshara who was happily devouring the lavish spread.
"Aur tera lehenga?"
Akshara licked her fingers, "Neil ne kaha ki woh mujhe leke jayega, so I am free to eat whatever and whenever." The duo shared a cute smile and Aarohi was fuming with anger and jealousy, she looked at Neil and then at Akshara.
