13. mahengi hai bhindi

Neil Birla, the youngest son of Manjari and Harshwardhan Birla, the most happiest and care-free of the entire Birla clan and the only kid who wanted to be someone other than a doctor. The entire Birla family were a mini hospital in itself, with Dr. Anand Birla (father of Parth and Nishta), he was a primary care doctor, Dr. Mahima Birla, his wife, was a psychiatrist, Dr. Harshwardhan Birla, was although a PhD doctor, the thesis he did on paramedical sciences were well recognised and acknowledged, his wife Manjari Birla was also a medical student, but dropped her studies owing to her family and then focused on her sons. Dr. Parth Birla was a dermatologist, and of course, Dr. Abhimanyu Birla was a cardiac surgeon. Nishta wanted to be an audiologist, and since they were all so keen to be doctors, Neil was also pressurized to be one and out of all the courses, he wanted to be an ophthalmologist because there was something fascinating about the human eye that made him want to know more.

However, his real interest was gaming, something he resorted to since the age of ten. Neil loved his brother's company a lot, but Abhimanyu deserted himself from everyone after the death of his best friend and hence, Neil found solace in gaming. His interest went beyond from playing and the idea of creating his own gaming company, having India to compete in E-sports, having to try a new game with more features was what ran in his mind constantly and with his mother's support, he decided that he did not want to study medical. At the start of this feud, his father was not in awe of this idea, but slowly, he did agree and the rest was history.

But, ever since he met a certain Goenka, his interest in reading eyes was now resurfacing and he realised why he was drawn to the girl, because her eyes were speaking nay, yelling for attention and she hid it well behind her causal smile and carefree shrugs.

There was a charm about her, he knew it, she was one of the girls who could get any man to do anything she wanted to because that charisma she carried and the slay attitude with it, was all swoon-worthy and Neil also knew that he was getting himself in trouble if he tried getting close to her. She was a siren, the mermaids who lure sailors to crash and die and Neil could not help but draw more closer to her, even if it meant a rocky crash.

This girl was something else, and what, he wanted to know.

Her eyes, they were anything but lies, they were so reflective about her innermost desires, about her inner-self, and Neil wanted to drown in them, just sit by and let her gaze captivate her and more than that, he wanted to know what was the matter.

Aarohi, on the other hand, was averting her gaze from Neil, because after the pendant incident, and his icy touches, she was sure to do something they both would regret. Their tension was now evident, and there was not much to do since they were going to be interacting on a daily basis anyway and the more closer he comes, the more she wants to throw herself on him but she could not. She wanted something casual, but she knew Neil was not a guy for her hormones and urges, he was a guy for her feelings.

And, she was a heart-breaker, but Neil's heart was something she did not want to mess with.

It was easier for her to walk out of relationships, but he seemed like the guy who would want to hold on and Aarohi was a free bird, not a captivated prisoner.

She had to hold onto herself around him and maintain a distance, and try distract herself with other men, other more handsome and prettier men. She looked at Neil who was also looking at her, they were seated across from each other, and he seemed lost. Neil was not the most sturdiest built guy like his brother, or someone with Greek God looks, but he certainly had a charming personality and his smile, Aarohi could not help but smile when he smiled.

"No, this is stupid." Abhimanyu broke their trance and the lot looked at the groom to be who was walking from one side to the other, "How childish are these two!"

"And stubborn too!" Akshara added, seated besides Aarohi with her head in her hands, "They are getting out of hand with their fights."

Dr. Harsh Birla and Manish Goenka had once again brought in their differences and created a chaos between the two families, this time the topic of the fight was lunch. Apparently, Harshwardhan pointed out how bland bhindi was (which Manish loved a lot) and then the fight escalated from bhindi to bhindi bazaar and the mangers of the hotel now warned them to behave. Abhimanyu and Akshara were disappointed, while Aarohi and Neil could not help but control their urge to smile and laugh out loud, so they sat with their respective siblings, trying to be serious.

"Bhindi pe kaun ladai karta hai?" Abhimanyu said in sheer denial and then Neil and Aarohi looked at each other, unable to hold their laughter anymore.

Once they laughed, crying in fact as they laughter resonated in the lobby, Abhimanyu and Akshara let go of their anger and smiled with them.

"Tum dono ko hassi aa rahi hai?" Abhimanyu sat next to Neil, holding his neck but Neil could not stop laughing, "Aarohi?"

"Sorry Abhimanyu," She said in-between her laughter, Akshara shaking her head at her sister, "but it is funny."

"Bas kar Aaru, ye serious hai." Akshara reprimanded her and Aarohi stopped laughing.

"Haan Aarohi," Neil added, now being serious, "pata hai kitni mahengi hai bhindi," he commented and they laughed again, louder than before.

"Idea," Akshara ignored the duo who were laughing, "why not put them in a room for one day and lock them, taaki kuch na kuch karke maan jaye."

"Kya Akshara," Abhimanyu frowned, "I know you are a kid at heart, but itni?" He smiled when Akshara hit him playfully on his arm, "fine, but don't you think they might just kill each other in the room?"

"Haan toh accha hai na," Neil got up and wrapped his hand around Abhimanyu, "baat khatam." Neil yelled when Abhimanyu twisted his ear, "kya bhai..."

"Haan toh send this chamgadar with them," Aarohi shrugged, blowing air on her nails, "he can supervise them too, and pretty sure they will sort out their differences if they are kept in one room."

"What!" Neil shook his head, walking towards the seated girl, "no way, main tumhe watchman lagta hu? No."

But Abhimanyu and Akshara smiled, this seemed like a doable thing.

"Yes, that does make a little sense," Abhimanyu held Neil's shoulder, "you could stand outside the door and in case things go south, you can barge in."

"But bhai..."

"Please Neil," Akshara requested, holding Neil's hand, "there is no one else we can ask and you are someone who can easily make them stop if things escalate into something worse."

Aarohi smiled to herself, this way Neil would be busy for an entire day and she can keep her distance away from him. But Neil had other things in his mind.

"Theek hai bhabhi," Neil smiled at Akshara, "but ek shart par," He said, tilting his head and looking at Aarohi with his funny grin, "ye chipkali bhi mere saath hogi."

They met each other's eyes, and it was decided that they had to spend an entire day together and while Neil would try to get answers, Aarohi would have to try to not let him closer to her.

Things were about to get spicy.
