"She complimented your eyes?" Indigo's best friend, Todd asked as his eyebrow raised in confusion. Indigo nodded, leaning over the engine of his car and working on different parts of it.

"Yeah, but she was drunk. I don't think she should be held accountable for what she said while she was drunk." He explained. Todd nodded and stood up, handing his friend a washrag. Indigo wiped the grease off of his hands and sweat off of his forehead before heading inside his house, going to grab himself a cold drink. As he walked in he saw his father who was holding a suitcase in his hand.

"Hey, Dad." Indigo greeted. His dad just barely waved as Indigo pulled a Dr.Pepper out of the fridge and popped it open and then his father was gone, out the door. Todd gestured over to him with raised eyebrows.

"Where's your dad going?" He asked. Indigo shrugged.

"Business." He still seemed confused.

"Okay, but where to? Like, what does he do?" He asked. Indigo sighed and set his drink on a small table next to his car, leaning back over and beginning to work on it again.

"If you can get a straight answer from him, let me know," he said bitter enough for Todd to notice.

"Do you ever hang out with your dad?" Todd asked worried about how Indigo would respond.

"No, and I don't expect to ever talk to him longer than a minute," Indigo said without restraint.

"Well you have me," Todd said happily.

"And I would be nothing without you," Indigo said as he looked at Todd. They both smiled at each other appreciating their friendship as they continued working on the car.

. . .

Indigo strolled into work with a fake smile on his face. He worked in a Comic Book store, which was great for him since he loved comic books, but he hated the customers. This is why as soon as the first customer of his shift walked up to him he began to have a sinking feeling in his stomach.

"Hello, how are you?" Indigo asked, trying to be polite. She didn't respond, she just put her comics in the checkout area. He scanned them with a smile.

"Would that be all?" He asked. She nodded, handing him some cash. He took it then returned her change for her.

"Have a nice day." Before he knew it someone else had appeared in front of him.

"Hello, how are you?" Indigo asked, smiling politely. The person in front of him looked like a teenage boy about his age.

"I'm good." He responded with a smile. Indigo rang him up and he paid and after that, he was on his way. The rest of Indigo's day was kind of a blur to him, just scanning and counting change until he finally got off work at 11 P.M, which meant it was time to have some real fun.

. . .

Indigo's hands tightened around the steering wheel as a woman standing in the middle of the road counted down loudly.

"Ready, Set, Go!" The woman yelled and as soon as the last word left her mouth he stepped on the gas and accelerated as fast as he could, his eyes focused forward. The wind that flew in through his open window made him feel as if he was flying but it was short-lived as he reached the finish. The feeling of pride he got every time he won a race was unlike any other. He slowed his vehicle to a stop and hopped out, strutting up to his opponent.

"Pay up." Indigo chuckled, holding his hand out. His competitor slammed his car keys in Indigo's hand and growled, walking away. Indigo walked over to Todd and tossed him his keys.

"You're driving the mustang home I want to dive this bad boy before we sell it tomorrow." Indigo said with a smile." Just don't scratch my baby okay? We don't want a repeat of last time." he said looking straight at Todd.

"Last time it wasn't my fault," Todd remarked at Indigo

"yeah right and I didn't have to sit in the shop for days," Indigo said smiling. "This time I'd kill you," he said giving Todd the deadliest stair.

"You're joking right?" todd asked slightly scared with his smile fading. Indigo just smiles while getting in the car he just won and drives off. "You're joking," Todd says smiling while getting the car and bringing it to Indigos house so the other could be sold tomorrow.

. . .

Soon they arrived at Indigo's house and they said their goodbyes as Todd got in his car, heading home, leaving Indigo alone in a dark, lonely house. Indigo flicked on the light as soon as he entered his house and just as he expected it was empty. He scanned over the room, trying to decide on what exactly to do until he felt tired enough to sleep. Almost instantly his eyes landed on a picture of his mother, hanging on the wall. Just looking at the picture made a feeling of anger surge inside of him, but not just anger, also sadness, and all in all regret. He ignored all of the feelings stirring up inside him and sat down on the couch with a frown on his face. He didn't turn on the T.V, didn't do anything except stare at the dark screen of the T.V. With a house that was somewhat big like his was, being alone in it made it feel a lot more lonely than it should've, but he was used to it. There wasn't much he could do, but sit here. He did turn on the T.V eventually, but after flipping through the channels for a while he turned it back off since none of it interested him. He didn't want to sleep. He eventually fell asleep anyways, his eyes drifting closed and his mind drifting away from reality.
