"I'm so sorry about Violet. I don't know what's gotten into her lately." Indigo apologized, holding an ice pack against his girlfriend's cheek. Rayne raised her eyebrow.
"You don't know? How could you not know? Even I know." She questioned. He gave her a confused look.
"What do you mean?" He asked. She chuckled.
"Seriously? You are so blind. She's acting this way because she's jealous." Rayne explained. Indigo gave her a confused look once more.
"Of?" He asked. She rolled her eyes.
"Me. It's so obvious that Violet likes you. Can't you see it? She was completely fine until you met me. Then suddenly she's acting all crazy, and earlier I was trying to be friendly and talk about, you know, yesterday, like girls do with their friends, and she got all jealous and, well, you saw what happened." Rayne partially lied. He raised his eyebrows at her.
"Really? You think that Violet likes me? That's insane. We're enemies, have been for three years." He pointed out. She shrugged.
"She probably only hates you because she loves you." She suggested. He shrugged, leaning close and giving Rayne a soft kiss.
"Well, it doesn't matter, because I love you." He responded, which wasn't entirely true. His mind was going absolutely crazy with thoughts that he knew he shouldn't have been thinking, but he couldn't help it. According to Rayne, Violet still liked him.
. . .
I sat on my mom's bed, my mom sitting in front of me, giving me a look of disapproval.
"Why'd you do it?" She asked. I looked down.
"Because she deserved it." I shrugged, licking a wound on my lip. She rolled her eyes.
"How? What'd she do?" She questioned. I sighed.
"It's not a big deal. I have to go do some homework." I avoided. She shook her head.
"It can wait. What did she do?" She asked, her voice coming out more stern than before.
"You're going to think I'm dumb," I responded. She shook her head and looked me in the eyes.
"I know you're not dumb, but you are a teenager which means you are flawed." She explained. I sighed, giving in.
"I started to get feelings for Indigo again. We were getting along. We were even friends for a few days, but he met her. She took my chance and then rubbed it in my face whenever she could. She was bragging and making sure I knew that he was hers. So, I decided to see if she was all talk." I explained. My mom sighed and looked down at the ground.
"Don't let her rile you up. Be the bigger person." She ordered. I sighed and nodded.
"I know. I will. I have to go, I have homework." She seemed like she had something else to say, but I didn't give her the opportunity, as I rushed to my room and laid on my bed, letting myself drift into a deep sleep.
. . .
Indigo laid in his bed, staring up at the ceiling. Rayne was asleep in his arms, but he couldn't get himself to fall asleep, not with the thoughts stirring in his mind about Violet. Did she really like him? Why would that matter to him? He loved Rayne, right? Rayne was perfect in every way. She was beautiful, had a great sense of humor, and knew how to cook, but the best part was they never argued, and when they did it was always over something small. They never had any conflicts and in his eyes she had no flaws. But if that was true, then why couldn't he get Violet off of his mind? He looked over at Rayne and kissed her forehead, trying to calm his thinking, but that didn't seem to help. His thoughts were stuck on Violet and there wasn't anything he could do about it, no matter how hard he tried. That night, Indigo got no sleep, his restless mind forbidding it.
