Chapter 27

The next morning, I followed my regular routine. I woke up, got dressed, ate breakfast, and then waited for my ride. I was really tempted to just tell Vic or Mike that I was going to school later so I didn't have to ride with them, but I know that wouldn't work. So I waited like usual until that familiar car honk.

I walked out of my house, making sure to lock the door and went inside the car.

"Morning," Mike said. I smiled at him before saying it back. This time, I didn't look at Vic. "By the way, here's your phone. You left it in the kitchen."

Mike handed me my phone, and I silently gave him a 'thank you'. My phone was fully charged too.

Like normal, Mike talked about complete nonsense while we just listened. I didn't talk much although Vic did. He said a few words here and there and every time he said my name, I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable.

When we arrived at school, aka the pit of hell, I walked with Mike. This was normal so I doubt Vic will know something is up. What I liked about today was that Vic didn't have to walk me to class for first period since I had math with Mike. It would become suspicious if he did that.

I'll have to admit that I am a little angry at Mike too. He knows what Vic is doing, yet he's doing nothing about it. If I was in his position, I would've spilled the truth. Why couldn't Mike just do that?

But for right now, I'll keep acting like everything is normal until I talk to Vic. He isn't going to get away with this that easily like last time.

Morning classes went by boring like usual. After the lunch bell rung, everyone was quick to exit the daunting classrooms. I took my time since I really had no rush to see anyone. And when I mean anyone, I mean Vic.

I know I have to talk to him, but I rather do it after school or something like that. The last thing I want now is to make a scene in front of everyone.

I left the classroom and walked to the cafeteria. The lines for the food were longer than usual. Oh well, it was my fault after all. So I stood there for a good two minutes until I felt someone grab my arm. You could say I was touched by the devil himself.

"Hey, I got you lunch." Vic said showing me the pizza and chips. I smiled at him, the smile not quite reaching my eyes.

"You didn't have to," I said and walked out of the line.

"Oh shut up, and take it." He said, rolling his eyes. With an involuntary sigh, I took the food and forced a smile.

"Alright, thanks."

We walked through the overly crowded cafeteria to the table where all of our friends sat and ate. I sat beside Tony and Vic sat beside me. I looked at the food in front of me before opening the potato chips. My appetite wasn't as strong as usual. If it were a different day, I would have no hesitation in devouring the food and buy more. Today was just not cut for it.

"Are you feeling okay? You didn't look too good in the morning, or even now for a fact." Vic said taking a bite of his pizza.

"I'm fine," I lied and swallowed the half chewed chip.

"No, I can see it in your eyes. Tell me what's wrong. You know you can tell me everything."

Yeah, I know, but what about you?

"I know," I said slowly, "I'm just a little tired."

I took my eyes off the bag and looked at him. Without a doubt, I knew he didn't believe me. I threw him a forced smile before getting back to the chips and starting a conversation with Tony.
