Chapter 24
I was bored out of my mind, and this is not how I wanted to spend my weekend. Of course, I had originally planned to spend time with Vic but with his friend here, I knew he would be busy. I didn't want to bother him so I tried to do something on my own. Mike could've been someone I could hang out with but I decided against it. Vic was home so I wanted to give him space.
I felt like maybe I might of overreacted when it came to the Craig thing. At the same time, he had lied so I did have the right to be upset. It also angered me to know that Vic would think I'm one of those type of guys. I guess everyone goes a little whack sometimes so I'm willing to forget that incident. As long as everything goes back to normal, I'm good.
Mom didn't work today but she was out with some of her coworkers. I don't know what she was doing but she left her car here. That's when I got an idea. I decided that maybe today I could go looking for a job.
I started looking for job openings on the newspaper and on the Internet. There were a few so I marked the ones that interested me. There was one at a near coffee shop, another one at a grocery store, and also I saw this clothing store. Some of them didn't seem like I would fit in them but I guess I would just have to try. Luckily, I was able to fill out the application online for one of the jobs but for the other ones I would need to go to the actual place.
I figured that if I got one of the jobs I could just use my mom's bicycle since all the jobs are fairly close. Maybe in a few months I could finally raise enough money to buy a car. For right now though, I'll just use my moms car to drive to the places.
Even though these jobs were more targeted for teens, I still tried my best to make somewhat of a résumé. Some asked for it and others didn't but it's better to be safe than sorry. It can make you look a little more professional too. After I was done with that, I got dressed. I needed to make a good first impression so I ditched the normal jeans and old t-shirt.
It was the middle of the day so business was mild. First stop was the coffee shop. It was a decent looking shop. You could tell it's been here for a while but it looked welcoming.
I parked the car and then made my way inside the shop. The shop itself wasn't too large but it was mostly full. Must be kind of popular.
The air was filled with the smell of coffee and pastries, while the shop was designed old fashioned. There were large displays of all the items and they honestly looked so good. Name any kind of pastry and it was here. It ranged from cakes and pies, to croissants, to cheesecakes, donuts, macarons and so much more.
People sat around with their buddies or by themselves. Some were studying while others just hanged out.
"Hi, I'm Wanda and welcome to Sun Café. How may I help you?" An elderly lady said when I reached the cash register. She looked friendly and genuinely smiled at me. At least I hope it was genuine.
"Hi, I'm here for about the job opening. I saw an ad on the paper this morning," I said as friendly as possible.
"Oh yeah, we've been in need of someone. It gets pretty busy in the afternoons and with our recent loss of employees, it's been a hassle," she said with a small laugh at the end.
"Well I'd be totally up for it. I have a résumé here if you'd like," I said timidly, handing her the piece of paper. She looked at it and briefly skimmed the words.
"Hmm, I see you attend the High School near this area," she mumbled.
I nodded and after a few seconds, she looked at me and said to follow her to the back. She lead me to her office and handed me a few papers.
