Chapter 25

I was fifteen minutes ealry when I arrived at Sun Café. Today was officially my first day.

"Hi, Mrs. Steward." I said once I saw her inside her office. She smiled at me immediately.

"Oh please, you can just call me Wanda." She said.

We talked about some few things relating to the costumers and food. From the way she spoke, it seemed like this would be a piece of cake. I hope it is at least.

After that was done, I put on on the apron all of the employees have to wear and my name tag. I felt confident so I immediately made my way to the empty register. There was a guy on the other register that was quick to greet me once I arrived.

"Newbie, right?" The red haired guy said. His ears were gauged and he had a lot of tattoos.

"Yeah," I said rather shyly.

"Well, welcome to the Café. I'm Matty." He said smiling.

"Thanks, I'm Kellin." I said and returned him a smile.

"This is honestly one of the best jobs you'll ever have," Matty said.

"And why is that?" I asked.

"Well for starters the boss is chill as fuck, the pay is pretty good, and there's also free food. I mean, who doesn't love free food?"

Free food, aye?

"That's pretty sweet," I said.

"It is," he said, "by the way, did she show you how to work this thing?" He said and pointed over to the cash register. I nodded and thanked him for the offer.

After a few minutes, my first costumer arrived. It was an older man with his daughter. I smiled at them kindly as they approached me and said what I was meant to say.

"Welcome to Sun Café. What can I get for you all today?" I said with every ounce of confidence I could find within me.

The man ordered a coffee, while his daughter ordered a simple glazed donut. I typed in the order before giving the man his total. He then gave me the money and then that's when I got his things.

Like she explained, I walked over to the other counter and filled his cup with the warm, silky, brown liquid, and then grabbed a glazed donut and put it inside a small bag. I turned around back to the man and gave him his order.

In the inside I smiled brightly but kept the smile on the outside to a minimum. I think I did good for my first time.

"You're a natural," Matty said beside me. I chuckled, silently agreeing with him. Conceited much? Haha

The day couldn't have ran any much smoother. By the time it was time to close shop, I was pretty much pleased with work. This is probably one of the best and easiest jobs I've ever had. Better than that newspaper job I used to have.

Before I left, I took a small bag and filled it with two donuts. At first I was hesitant but Matty basically shoved the bag towards me. Now I was bicycling back home as the sky darkened.

When I got home, I saw that my mom was in her office. I lightly knocked on her door until she said to come in.

"Hey, I'm back from work."

"Oh, how did that go, sweetie?" She asked.

"Really good actually. I brought you a donut," I said and showed her the bag. She smiled brightly because I knew she loved donuts more than anything.
