I feel like this chapter is a bit of a filler so sorry if it's boring or whatever. The next chapter is much better though. I'll try to post before Friday again. Thanks for reading and if you have any questions, leave them down below.

Chapter 9
I was dreading today and not because it meant that I only have one more week of summer left, but because I would see Vic. After that night, I haven't been able to even look at him. It was odd but I just couldn't take off that feeling. The dream would replay over and over, leaving me to question more things.
Today I was going to get my schedule and ID for the new school year. Every Junior and Senior that planned to attend this High School had to come. I knew I would probably see some of my newly found friends - which I had no problem with - but it was just Vic that made me uneasy.
It was nearing six p.m as my mom and I walked inside the large gymnasium. A lot of students and their parents sat down waiting for the whole thing to start. We took a seat by the top of the bleachers and waited like everyone else.
I was surprised to see the amount of students here. My school back home wasn't that big so seeing all these Juniors and Seniors made me a bit nervous. I mean, the school is already big with these two grades so who knows how it'll be with the Freshies and Sophomores.
"Good evening students and parents," the principal started but I didn't really pay attention. I knew what he would blabber about and I'm pretty sure everyone did too. He would just say how he is excited for this new year and how we choose the right school to attend and so on. Pretty much some bullshit.
After what felt forever, they informed us on how the process would run. First we would need to fill out some paper work by Section A, then we would get our picture taken and given our ID by Section B, and then lastly we would go to Section C for our schedules. They will also have a section for all the clubs and activities.
So we walked to Section A with everyone else. Luckily we were some of the first people to arrive so we quickly got down to business. The rest of the people started to form a line so I was happy because this meant we would leave quicker.
After many forms to fill out with countless questions, we formed the line for the ID. As we waited for my turn I took a look around to see if I would see anyone I knew. Relieved washed over me when Vic was nowhere in sight. That just means he was probably caught with the crowd.
Taking my picture was probably the most embarrassing thing I had to do. Literally everyone in line could see you. I walked to the wall and listened at the photographer.
"Okay on three give me a big smile!" He said overly excited. "One. . .two. . .three!"
I couldn't really smile because I was dying of embarrassment so I did a halfway smile. It was apparent but not complete.
The man gave me my brand new warm ID and told me not to lose it. I nodded and walked away quickly with my mom.
"Damn, that was embarrassing." I muttered as we headed to the last section.
"Why? You looked so cute." She said with a short laugh.
"Oh, whatever." I rolled my eyes, nudging her gently.
We walked over to the back of the gym where many tables were set with schedules. There was a section for the Juniors and Seniors though, and they were set by alphabetical order.
"Last name," the lady said.
"Quinn," I replied.
She scanned a few papers until she finally found one. When she gave me my schedule, she also gave me a pamphlet. It was filled with information of the school, a map, and a lot of clubs/activities the school had to offer.
When I looked at my classes, I saw nothing out of the ordinary. I had Chemistry, Algebra 2, English and whatnot, but I was surprised by my electives. I had French and Media, which I guess were some of the electives that hadn't been filled since I for sure didn't sign up for them.
Mom and I walked to where all of the clubs and sports sign ups were, but we didn't even get there because of a lovely surprise. My mother's name was called by non other than Vivian, and sure enough her sons stood there.
"We were wondering where you were," Mike said with a smile.
"I was actually just about to check out some of the clubs and stuff. It was more of my mom's idea so I doubt I was going to sign up for anything anyway."
I briefly faced Vic but felt somewhat nervous so I just turned my vision back on Mike. It wasn't like he was looking at me anyways.
"Yeah, me either. I never do," Mike said with a slight chuckle. "Did you get your schedule already?"
I nodded and showed him the white piece of paper. He and Vic read it silently but didn't really give much comment on it.
"What about yours?" I asked both of them.
"We haven't gone to that section yet, but we got our ID's." Mike said and took out his ID. He didn't look half bad actually.
"That isn't too bad, mine came out fucking horrible." A small laugh escaped my mouth at the thought of that damn picture.
"I'm pretty sure it isn't," Vic finally spoke. My eyes met his and for a second there I forgot about the dream and somehow got lost in his gaze. I don't know why I didn't look away, but it just felt right looking at him. Maybe I was overreacting on the whole dream situation. I mean, it is just a dream after all, right?
"Well, let us see it." Mikes voice broke off the odd trance and I took out my ID and nervously handed it to him. He and Vic inspected it for a few seconds but didn't really laugh or anything.
"It's not even bad at all," Mike said which was followed by a nod by Vic.
"Yeah, yeah whatever." I took the ID from his hands and put it in my pocket. "But what about yours?" I asked and was surprised by the new confidence I had gained to be able to talk to Vic. I don't even know why I had asked him. Nonetheless, he looked at me and slowly gave me his ID.
I took it in my hands and saw the simple picture. It almost seemed perfect- wait what? I didn't mean like his face or anything. It's just a good picture. That's all.
After a few minutes of pure chit chat, we all parted our ways and my mom and I made our way to where the clubs and stuff was. I was glad we had left because I felt that any moment I would say something stupid in front of Vic. Even after I had talked to him, I still felt uncomfortable.
"So, is there anything you want to join?" Mom asked as we passed the countless presentations for the clubs.
"No, I think I'm good." I said not even taking a second glance.
"I think it would be good for you if you had an after school activity."
I scoffed at the idea and rolled my eyes. She couldn't be serious?
"Well what am I supposed to join? Theater? The football team? No, I'll pass." I said bluntly but it was the truth. Nothing was really for me.
"Well, I don't know Kellin. There must be something you can choose to pass time." She said and at that moment, I realized what she was trying to do. She thinks that it's a bad idea if I'm home alone all the time and let my thoughts wander to. . .other things, so she wants to find a way to distract me from them. Honestly, those thoughts are basically glued into my head. There is nothing that can erase them.
"Even if I wanted to join something, there is literally nothing that interests me." I said, boredom in my tone. I looked at the chess club poster and almost laughed out loud at how stupid I would look if I was in that club, or just anything else. I just simply didn't fit in any of these. "But don't worry, I'll eventually find something to do." It was half a lie, but it would do for right now.
After a few more minutes of carelessly walking around, we left the bleak looking school. In all honesty, I was dreading the new school year. It wasn't the education that bothered me, but more of the drama that goes on. Sometimes you just feel like slamming your head against your desk because of the annoyance school brings. But I don't know, maybe this year can be different.
