Chapter 3

The next day had came by quick and I soon found myself looking out the window at the house beside me. Cars were piling in the streets and a big chunk of people were out there. I still had not made up my mind on whether going or not. It just didn't seem right, or maybe I'm just delusional.

Tomorrow mom had work very early in the morning so she was just about to go to sleep. If I did decide to go it wouldn't be too hard to leave without her noticing.

I sat in my room, letting the time pass and basically stalling. There was a part of me that did for sure want to go, but another that kept shouting no.

'This can be a good opportunity to meet new people'

I kept telling myself that but I still refused to accept the reason. It was a good reason, but I'm too frightened to go. I mean, what if the people aren't really. . .my kind of people?

Fuck

It's a big risk, but fuck it! I'm going.

I stood up quickly from the bed and slipped on my black TOMS. For a second, I checked my hair in the mirror, grabbed my phone then walked out quietly. My mom's room was across from the other side of the staircase and she was a very light sleeper so I actually really had to be careful.

Just as I reached the end of the stairs, I realized my mom wasn't in bed just yet. She carried some paper work in her hands and eyed me carefully. For sure she knew something was up.

"Where are you going?" She asked.

"Uh, I, uh I'm just gonna um-"

"Kellin!" She shut up my blabbering and I lowered my head. "I'm going to ask you again. Where are you going?"

"I'm, uh, going over next door. They're throwing a party."

She was silent for a moment and when I looked up back at her, I could see a frown on her face. The one I used to see way too much back home.

"Kellin, look I-"

"No, don't worry about it. I'm not going to go anymore. It's cool-" I tried to drop the subject.

"No, Kellin listen. I don't have anything against you going to a party, but what I am worried about is what you'll do. There are so many dangers in a party like that and I'm afraid that you're going to go back to-"

"Mom, I wasn't planning on drinking or doing anything like that tonight. I swear."

It was true though. I was going because of the chance of meeting people, not having fun in that manner. No way.

"Then why were you going?"

"Well Mike suggested I go to try to meet people since I was new."

She sighed closing her eyes for a moment and then opening them again.

"Okay," she breathed out. "But please Kellin, promise me you won't get close to doing something like that. Remember our deal. Just promise me, Darling."

"I promise, mom." I said. She smiled and I leaned over to kiss her warm cheek. I pulled away and then slowly walked away, leaving her alone once again.

Once I walked out, I felt the cool breeze hit my body. I walked across to their house, already nervous as hell, but I knew I had to do this.

So I didn't seem like that big of a loser, I walked in with this small group of people as if I were part of their group. Better than walking in by yourself I guess.

Instantly my ears were exposed to the loud music and people's laughter and chatter. I hadn't been to a real party like this so this was pretty new to me. There were a ton of people everywhere so it was kind of hard to take a good look at the home. Must be very spacious if they can fit everyone in here.
