The rain lasted all day, which I secretly enjoyed. Nathan stayed in with me all day alternating between kissing me and holding me. Then he held me close as we fell asleep together.

Today was sunny but the land was still wet from the rain, meaning I wouldn't have to water the gardens . I was laying in the grass under a tree near the back of my home ,where the sun had dried the ground just enough for it to be hospitable, Nathan sprawled next to me.

I stared at the clear sky as I played with the necklace around my neck offhandedly making note of the passing clouds. I was content just having Nathan here with me, no matter how limited a time we had together.

" I think I'll catch you a bird today." Nathan said interrupting our silence.

I looked away from the sky to see he was already looking at me. Nathan also singled handedly ate the rest of the deer and a large number of apples while confined inside with me.

" Ok" I replied turning back to the sky.

I heard the sound of bones breaking before His large black wolf stood over me, blocking the view of the sky. I reached out and rubbed his ears his tail slowly waging behind him. He responded by rubbing his
snout on either side of my face.

He pulled away after awhile, circled me, then shot off into the forest. I was left to ponder how long he would stay before he had to leave me.

He returned shortly in wolf form a large bird between his jaws, his huge wolf barely bloodied. He dropped the dead bird next to me and sat waiting.

What was he waiting for? "What?"

I must have taken too long to acknowledge him because he let out a whine in response. He motioned with his head as if saying take it.

I sat up and took the large bird in hand trying not to get blood on my dress. He licked my check before changing back, his face contorting momentarily before he reverted to the man I knew. His face inches from mine, he captured my lips.

" I'll make a roast " he said after he pulled away.

"Ok"

He stood and extended his hand to me, helping me up. I took it without hesitation, simultaneously he took the bird from my dangling hand.

I watched as Nathan made quick work of the bird, removing its feathers and cutting away odd pieces. Starting a fire in the stove pit and adding dried herds to then naked pale naked flesh. He looked oddly domestic moving through ingredients.

After repeatedly observing his culinary skills I concluded he had a good grasp on killing and preparing animals.

Suddenly He froze up and his eyes rose to the top of the mountain.

" What is it?" I asked gazing up the mountain with him.  His gaze lingered on the mountain top for a moment then he replied.

"Nothing" he said resuming stuffing something up the bird's orifice .

I looked up the mountain but didn't notice anything. Werewolves had enhanced senses, was he hiding something from me? I tightened my hands in the fabric of my dress before opening my mouth to speak.

" That should be it." Nathan said placing the covered pot in the flames, he wasn't looking at me.

'Let it go'

He came over to me engulfing me in my arms, his nose taking deep breaths in my hair. The way he smelt me made me feel self conscious.

" I can stay three more days before I have to leave," he glanced at the mountain top.

" Can't  you stay longer."I asked without allowing my mind time to oppose.

He sighed pulling me to sit on his lap. " I've been gone for three days, I can stay up to six days outside the pack at any one time. Any more than six and I'll be considered a deserter, a lone wolf"

I held back the emotion that threatened to again slip out unfiltered. A lone wolf? Weren't wolves pack animals?

" I caught your scent on the wind from the top of the mountain, I didn't know it was you at the time but then again I wasn't in control." He laughed to himself. " I followed it here and there you were, so captivating." He lifted a handful of my hair running finger through the strands.

He sighed again. " I'm already not on good terms with my father so staying away too long will only make things worse." He caressed my check " I can smell that you're anxious, I am too" he said softly.

He pressed his forehead to mine, "Tell me what you're thinking." He said barely above a whisper.

I gazed into his dark eyes as I replied " I don't want you to leave me. I don't want to be alone again." I said my voice fading out as I spoke.

He tightened his arm around my waist almost painfully as he glanced up the mountain again. "  I'll be back as soon as I can. I won't be gone long."

So he had made up his mind then, he would leave no matter what I had to say. I tried to stand, wanting to to think without him present but his iron grip held me hostage.

" I promise I'll come back ."His fingers were pressing against my rib cage, there force reminded me I was at his mercy if he wished to hurt me. My inner voice whispered 'but he wouldn't'.

"You're mine. I would never abandon you."

I couldn't tell him how much I didn't want him to go, that would be selfish. He had his family to return to, his pack. He offered to take me with him it was I who refused.  He wasn't obligated to stay here it was my selfishness that wanted me to force him to stay.

" The minute I get my power I'll leave with you." I said after awhile.

His eyes showed slight surprise at my sudden words but was quickly out shone by merit.

"Ok" the smile that overcame his face was warming, he leaned in and kissed me.

I decided I would be selfish for the next three days incase he decided a witch on a mountain wasn't worth returning to.
