Nathan led me to a modest home not too far from the pack house. I watched his face light up as Alexander waved at him from the front window.

He came outside to greet us, a pink flower apron tied over his regular clothes.

He paused as he got close taking a deep breath. Nathan and him exchanged a look like their was something I didn't know about. Would they do this often? I tugged at our intertwined hands.

Alexander spoke first. " Popped the ole cherry."

Nathan laughed turning his head to the side shifting the fabric away from where I had sunk my teeth. "I got something else too, check it out."

Alexander gasped scrambling closer to look at Nathan's exposed neck. "No way!" He glanced over at me in what seemed to be awestruck surprise. "Damn. You must be part wolf to get the bite right."

"Nah she's just perfect." Nathan said readjusting his shirt.

Alexander scoffed waving his hand in dismissal. "She's number 2, we went over this." He didn't allow Nathan to defend me. "Did you guys even shower?"

A sly smile overtook Nathan's face. "Yeah, we took a bath together. You're one to talk, I had to endure your stench for over a month."

Alexander laughed not offering a comment on what the 'stench' was. " My mom hounded me about it so be prepared." He said walking towards the house.

"Yeah I know." Nathan laughed leading me to the house.

Inside the house was hard wood all around, similar to the main house we had just left. Family pictures decorating the walls and surfaces. I observed that Nathan was present in a lot of them.

The layout was open with the rooms just leading into each other but the design worked making the home flow. A young boy and Alexander's father sat at the table the younger wolf on his phone, the older reading some papers. They both turned to greet me and Nathan.

They both did as Alexander did, a subtle head raise and a quick deep breath. Alexander's father offered a quick comment. "The pleasures of a mate." He said looking at Nathan. "Congratulations."

Nathan laughed replying in the same way. " Thank you."

I had forgotten about the younger boy as a He appeared next to me. " Nathan she's really pretty."

I shrunk against Nathan trying to distance myself from the stranger. He shared a stark resemblance to both Alexander and his father. Alexander's brother maybe?

"Of course she is, she's mine." He said rubbing the Boy's head. I relaxed, Nathan seemed to have a close relationship with the boy, I would trust him.

The boy looked up at me his green eyes bubbling with energy. "Her scent's weird." his gaze peering into me.

I wanted to slap him, force him to stop looking at me. Just then a woman came in pushing the boy away.

"That's rude Aiden." She said as she approached me.

"Sorry." The boy said retaking his seat. I just knew this woman was Alexander's mother.

She was a small Native American woman, her black hair twisted in a braid that fell down her back. I saw Nathan straighten up as she stood before us.

She looked between to both of us, her hand coming to rest on my shoulder. She gave me a long hard stare before her face broke out into a smile.

"She's a fine female Nathan." She said leaning closers. She rubbed her check against mine. "Welcome to the family dear."

I felt oddly at ease around this woman, she ignited trust in me much like her older son did. I nodded unsure of what to say. I turned to see Nathan smiling that beaming smile he always seemed to direct at me.

'Just for me'

" I know I was lucky the goddess chose her for me." He said his attention on me.

"Indeed." She said exiting my personal space. She went over to Nathan.

" I know how wonderful it is to find your life partner but don't come back here smelling like this." The lady said in a low tone. It was scary the way she seemed intimidating.

Nathan gulped nodding.

Alexander appeared the apron gone. "That's all he gets?! You yelled at me and through me out the house!"

His father answered "Because you and Juana were over doing it." He said not looking up from his papers.

" No I wasn't." He mumbled pouting.

Something told me he knew what they said was true.

Alexander's mother went over to her mate running her hand through his hair. "Hypocrites." He mumbled returning to the kitchen.

My eyes caught a picture of a younger Nathan and Alexander cheek to cheek, toothless smiles, mud all over their clothes and face. I looked around the room at the home, at the family, and was reminded of the things I was robbed.

My eyes wondered to Nathan as he held a chair out for me smiling. I ignored the thoughts, they would pass. I sat and he sat next to me.

The boy, Aiden, sat across from me his eyes pinned to me again.

Nathan growled from next to me. "Cut it out Aiden." My eyes snapped to him in surprise, he sounded so hostile towards the boy he seemed to be close to.

Aiden forced his eyes to his lap. "I'm sorry she just smells so......." He trailed of seemly unable to find the words.

Nathan had said my scent was unique, we now had confirmed the reason behind the strange scent. I hadn't realized others could smell the difference as well. I felt bad for the kid despite his overbearing gaze.

"It's okay." I found myself speaking up unexpectedly. I felt the need to make him feel better, let his energy return.

"I know I smell weird Nathan told me before." I said looking at my lap, I wasn't insecure about my scent. Their was an awkward silence around the table as I didn't deliberate.

"Her scent's just different, she's not a wolf so it's expected." Alexander spoke from the kitchen. "She's a badass super witch, it shouldn't matter." I secretly thanked Alexander.

The younger wolf raised his head his energy returning. "You're a witch, like you can use magic?!"

I hesitated in nodding. I wasn't really a witch, half witch maybe?

"Yeah she made apples appear out of nowhere." Nathan said having returned to his usual self. That wasn't necessarily true, I wasn't the one who casted the enchantment.

"I wanna see, do a spell." He said excited.

Alexander and his mother had begun bringing dishes to the table, the awkward atmosphere forgotten. I wanted to say no but I extended my hand over the empty soup bowl recreating the enchantment from Greta's memory. Anything to keep the awkwardness away.

Various apples appeared in a neat pile.

"Cool!" He exclaimed taking one of the apples, instantly one reappeared in its place. Nathan beamed down at me taking one also.

Alexander placed a large Ham on the now full table taking the empty seat next to his brother. He punched him in his arm causing him to cry out.

"Jerk." Aiden said rubbing his arm.
