Chapter 20

My smile is so wide as I knock on my parents' door. Hindi nila alam na uuwi ako today, I wanted to surprise them that's why sobrang aga pa lang umalis na ako from the condo para maabutan ko sila here.

I shrieked when and abruptly hugged my mom pagka-open agad ng pinto.

"Oh my, my daughter is here!" Si Mommy nang biglang matauhan atsaka niya lang binalik ang yakap ko.

Narinig ko ang pagtikhim ni daddy, dahilan para maputol ang yakapan namin ni mommy. I quickly gave my dad a hug while I giggled. I missed them so much talaga!

"I miss you so much," Daddy said as he give me a kiss on my head. Ngumiti ako at sumang-ayon.

Gusto ko kasing ibalita sa kanila in person about my graduation that's why I came home instead of waiting for them next week na naka-plan na talaga.

Sabay-sabay kaming nag-almusal, I miss breakfast with them. Sa mga nakaraang buwan, I was alone during breakfast and dinner. Except when Chase and I had early dinner outside but that doesn't always happen.

The entire morning was filled with our conversation about my graduation and also sa org stuffs. They knew about that, there's one time they sponsored the catering. My parents are really supportive, and I'm so grateful with that.

"Daughter,"

"Hmm?" Humarap ako kay Daddy, pati si Mommy ay natigil din sa pag-iiscan ng mga plates and developed pictures na dinala ko para ipakita.

My dad studied my face for a while before he speaks.

"I've heard Chase took a break through changing work environment."

Bahagya akong natigilan.

Break, pero may work pa rin?

Wait, Daddy knew about that?

Hindi naman sa nagsisinungaling na ako sa kanila but the I wasn't able to mention my internship with Chase and na uh... okay na kami?

"You're not mad at him, anymore. Sweetie?" Mommy carefully inquired that made my lips parted.

They thought I'm still mad at him?

Oh my gosh.

"No, of course not..." Medyo nalilitong sagot ko. "In-"

I paused when they exchange a knowing look, my parents always do this and I don't know how they are able to understand each other by just a glance. Hindi ko namans sinubukan i-ask, there's reason why they do that. It's a secret, so I shouldn't be nosy.

But sometimes... so unfair! Madalas kasi tuwing ako kausap e. Laging may secret message? Daya so much!

"Mommy, Daddy!"

Sabay silang humarap, bahagyang tumawa. I puffed air in my cheeks and sigh harshly.

Daddy chuckled at that. "Sorry, that's good to know anak. You know, Chase is a good man. We're grateful of him for being with you before."

Umangat ang kilay ko. Well, he is but I don't know what dad actually means.

Pero sabagay, loner nga me before! Kaso need bang ipaalala ni daddy iyon?

Mommy cleared her throat.

"We haven't told you, anak. But we asked Chase that time if he can accompany you... We're worried because you are not able to make friends. But you're comfortable with him,"

Mabilis na nagsalubong ang kilay ko.

They asked Chase to accompany me before?
