"Amelia get your arse out of bed" Amelia had 3 sisters and 1 brother.

It was something she loved but also hated.

Derek was the nicest to her out of all of her siblings, her sisters were just evil.

"Nancy fuck off" she hated Nancy with a passion.

"Oh wow cursing me at such early hours" Nancy gave Amelia a fake smile before leaving her room.

Amelia just flipped her off before getting out of bed.

Kai was older than Amelia by a couple of months which meant that they had a car, and Amelia used them as her main source of transport.

It didn't take her long to get dressed, she had figured out that if she picked her outfit out the night before then she was ready within 5 minutes; she had learnt hat the hard way whilst in high school.

"I'm coming" Amelia opened her window and shouted down to Kai who was beeping their horn signifying their arrival.

"Bye mum" Amelia placed a kiss on her mums cheek before waving bye to her and shutting the door behind her.

"Shepard" Kai nodded their head at the brunette smiling her favourite wonky smile as Amelia got into the car.

"Kai make sure she comes back less of a brat" Nancy shouted from the window.

"Will do" they nodded their head and side eyed Amelia.

"Nancy's giving you hell I take it?" They started to pull out of the driveway and head to the college.

"You have no idea"

It was their first day at the college both teens had been aspiring to go to for a while.

They both had similar interests so their classes were fairly similar.

However, Kai was more interested in the medicine side of science and Amelia was interested in the surgical side, and obviously they were both nerds studying whenever they could.

"Oh look who it is, baby Shepard" Mark teased as they made their way over to Kai's car.

"Lay off her" Derek pulled his sister by his side when she got out of the car, giving Kai a smile.

"You excited?" Derek asked whilst they walked to the main entrance of the college.

"I am yes" Amelia nodded her head as they entered the building.

"What about you Kai?" Derek asked.

"Oh, I'm well excited" Derek smiled at both teens before wishing them luck and saying his goodbyes.

"Bye baby Shepard" Mark spoke his usual teasing tone taunting her.

"I wish I could hit him" Kai spat as they stood by Amelias side and watched Mark walk away.

"I'm not stopping you" Amelia tarred her eyes away from the boys.

Kai laughed at her comment and followed her towards the receptionists desk.

"We need our timetables please" Amelia scanned the black board behind the woman at the desk her eyes focusing on the science club after school.

"Names?" She asked her tone tight and dull.

"Kai Bartley and Amelia Shepard" she responded.

They were given their timetables and a folder to put their books in.

"Thank you"

"This place is huge I forgot how big it is" kai had always been used to their small high school, but this was a lot larger in comparison.

"Excuse me, you're tall how do you think I feel?" Kai laughed and rustled Amelias hair.

"Small girl" Amelia swatted their hand away backing up into someone by accident.

"Hey watch where you're going" Amelia turned around to see a boy taller than Amelia and nearly the same height as Kai.

"Oh never mind you're pretty" Kai rolled their eyes at the compliment.

Lame come on now.

"Link" he raised his hand out for the brunette to accept.

"Amelia" she shook his hand firmly smiling kindly at the boy.

"It's your first day too?" He asked gesturing to the timetables and locker numbers in their hands.

"Yeah afraid so" Kai always felt invisible so it was normal for them to be ignored whilst in conversation.

"Link come on we gotta go" a girl came bouncing into Link pulling his shirt for him to hurry up.

"It was nice speaking to you" Amelia nodded her head and watched as the boy got dragged away.

"It's not even been half an hour and you've been complimented" it bugged Kai when they had to watch Amelia get hit on, I mean for gods sake that should be them.

"Is someone jealous" Amelia teased as she bumped into their side.

"You wish" Truth be told they were jealous, but Amelia didn't need to know that.

Not yet anyway.

"Hey Bartley" Amelia and Kai shared lockers next to each other.

"Hello Shepherd. I'd say our first day was a success" Kai grabbed their books from their locker and stuffed them in their backpack.

"I'll agree with you on that one" Kai smiled at Amelia before shutting their locker and leaning up against it.

"Study at yours tonight?" Kai asked as they both started to walk down the corridor and out of the building.

"Of course"

"Ew hey brat" Amelia rolled her eyes at her sister.

"Nancy you shouldn't speak about yourself like that" Amelia had to hide her face in the fridge as she  laughed at Kai's comeback.

"Oh and look what the cat dragged in"

"Lovely to see you too Nancy" Nancy smiled her usual tight lipped fake smile.

"Always a pleasure" Amelia grabbed some snacks from the cabinet and a sandwich from the fridge before pulling Kai with her up the stairs.

"Ugh omg she makes me so fucking angry" Amelia chucked the snacks on her bed and sat down on her sofa.

"She's just a dickhead its what sisters are" Amelia nodded her head knowing that she probably annoyed her sisters too, but nothing compared to how Nancy treated her.

"Ok, biology?" Kai asked as they chucked their biology textbook onto Amelias bed and sat next to her on the sofa.

"Sounds good"

"I can't believe we've had our first day at college that's mental" Kai grabbed a snack from the bed.

"It's mad I know" Amelia grabbed the textbook from the bed and opened up the page they needed.

The night resumed to be filled with studying and eating unhealthy snacks.

"Ames I gotta go" Kai checked their watch and grabbed their bag.

"Is your dad home?" Amelia asked not wanting him to catch Kai slip in later than allowed.

"No I don't think so" they shoved their textbook into their bag before grabbing their jacket and putting it on.

"Same time tomorrow?" Kai asked as they stole one more packet of crisps from Amelia's bed.

"Yes" Kai smiled at the brunette before turning to leave.
