Friends into lovers

First job

"Hello am I speaking to Kai Bartley?" Kai answered the call despite the no caller ID.

"Yes that's me" the woman continued to speak.

"I'm calling in response to the job you applied for at the Premium Hotel as a waiter" Kai suddenly understood why they were calling.

"Would you be able to come in for an interview this Friday?" Kai had applied for the job on an app Tom had suggested to them after telling him that they needed to start earning some money.

Amelia's birthday was coming in close and they wanted to be able to treat her the way she deserved to be treated.

"That sounds amazing" Kai really wanted this job: it was close, and it paid exceptionally well.

"Does 1pm work for you?" She asked.

"Yes that should be good" Kai thanked the woman on the other end of the phone and said goodbye before hanging up the phone.

"Who was that?" Amelia asked as she sat on their bed playing a game on her phone.

"I have an interview for that job at the hotel I was telling you about" Amelia's eyebrows rose and her eyes lit up.

"Really! That's amazing" she dropped her phone onto the sheets and opened her arms for Kai.

"Well done my love" kai crawled onto the bed and lay in between her legs, their head resting on her chest.

"Take a seat" Kai obliged with the command and sat in the chair opposite the man that was in charge of the hotel.

The woman must have been in charge of interviews and such.

Kai had never worked for anyone before, they had learnt to be independent.

They had no experience with interviews.

Tom, Ashley, and Amelia had helped them prepare as well as telling them what they needed for the interview, such as: passport, and their drivers license.

"Do you have your passport with you?" He asked.

Kai lifted the small leather book from their pocket and placed it on the man's desk.

"Thank you" the man scanned the contents before typing a few things into his computer.

"That's great, do you drive?" Kai nodded before slipping their drivers license from their wallet and again placed it onto the desk.

The man typed further contents into the computer before pushing both objects towards Kai.

"Amazing" Kai placed both objects back into their pocket.

"So, kai, what do you think you can add to the Premium Hotel?" Kai thought for a moment before speaking.

"I'm polite, hardworking and independent. I feel as though I can use my skills and apply them to working as a waiter at this hotel" the man nodded before typing into his computer again.

"We have one main policy here and that is to always put the customers first, always treat them with respect and always make them believe they are right, in any situation. Obviously if anything gets out of hand physically then we would take a different approach" Kai nodded in response.

The interview went on quite smoothly until the man stood and held his hand out towards kai.

"Thank you for agreeing to come to the interview, I'll give you a ring if you're successful" Kai nodded before standing and shaking the man's hand before leaving the hotel.

Kai was currently in the middle of a class when their phone started to ring.

Amelia saw the buzzing device as well as the IP address, her eyes lighting up knowing who was calling them.

"Shit" Kai raised their hand in hope the teacher would see them.

"Bartley?" Kai looked down at their phone that was still ringing.

"May I go to the toilet sir?" The man nodded and continued speaking to the class.

"Go" Amelia whispered watching as Kai walked down from their seat near the top row.

"Hi" they had made it out of the class room and stood in the hallway.

"Hi, Kai, I'm pleased to inform you that you've been successful, we are happy to take you on" Kai silently screamed as they fist pumped the air in congratulations.

"Thank you so much" Kai told themselves to remain calm until they had both said their goodbyes and hung up.

Kai placed their phone into their pocket before running through the hallway and jumping.

They had told Kai that they would message them details on when they needed to start and the uniform they'd have to wear.

The uniform would be sent to the dorm, but Kai just needed to pick a size.

Kai took a deep breath in an attempt to calm the adrenaline before walking through the door to the classroom.

They made their way back up to their seat.

Amelia was eyeing the blonde hoping they had gotten the job, and trying to figure out if they had or not by their facial expressions.

They sat down and picked up their pen, trying their hardest not to disturb the class by screaming.

"Hey" Amelia leant closer to kai so she could whisper to them.

"Hello" Kai whispered back, a cheeky smile on their face.

"Did you get it?" Amelia leant back watching as Kai turned the page in their note book and slowly ripped the page out so it wouldn't make too much noise.

They then wrote something down that Amelia couldn't see from where she was sat.

*I GOT IT!* Amelia's eyes lit up when they showed her what they had written.

She tried not to scream or to physically run around the classroom and instead moved so she was closer to them before placing a kiss to their cheek, soft and quick.

Before she pulled away from the kiss she whispered in their ear.

"I'm so fucking proud of you"

Kai was extremely happy that they had gotten the job, it now allowed them to earn a decent amount of money and put it towards Amelia's birthday present.
