"No!" Amelia shouted in her sleep as she kicked and pushed against Kai.
Kai awoke instantly knowing it was another nightmare.
"I'm here shh Amelia" Kai brought Amelia towards their chest until she calmed enough to know who was holding her.
"Kai" Amelia whimpered resting her face in the crook of their neck.
"It's alright I've got you" Kai ran their hands through Amelias hair, massaging her scalp softly.
"You're here" Amelia repeated as she pressed gentle feather light kisses to Kai's neck.
"I'm here" Kai could feel Amelia relax further into them at their words.
"I don't want to sleep" Amelia mumbled against their neck as their eyes closed for a second but opened again when she started to speak.
"It's... six o'clock Ames for another hour" they replied as they looked at the clock on Amelias wall.
"He'll come back" she whispered leaning further into Kai, if that was even possible.
"If he does then I'll be here to soothe you when you wake up" Amelia smiled against Kai's skin, she was still terrified though.
"Ok" she whispered.
Kai closed their eyes as one hand ran through Amelias hair. Amelia didn't sleep.
She let Kai rest, they had been through a lot last night and she wanted them to relax and get some sleep.
She decided to go into Kai's dorm to see if Ashley was theee as well as Tom.
Kai was quite a heavy sleeper so they didn't notice or wake up when Amelia got out of bed.
She padded across the wooden floor and across the hall.
She lightly knocked on the door and was thankful when Ashley opened the door.
"Hey" she whispered.
"Tom's still asleep" she said as Amelia entered Kai's dorm.
"What's wrong?" Ashley asked as she sat on Kai's bed with Amelia.
"You slept in Kai's bed?" Amelia asked. Ashley nodded.
"My dorm was occupied" Ashley smirked.
"I see" Amelia nodded.
"They're too good for me" Ashley furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"What?" She asked waiting for Amelia to continue.
"Kai, they're so good. Too good" Amelia shook her head smiling at the thought of her best friend.
"Amelia" Ashley rested her hand against Amelias shoulder.
"I don't want to ruin them, infect them. I don't want to ruin anything we have now" Ashley understood where Amelia was coming from, but it made sense.
Her and Kai fit, like a puzzle.
"I've never seen anyone that looks at you the way Kai does, or laughs around you the way that Kai does, or love you the way Kai does, they're it for you Amelia. Take a leap" Amelia listened to Ashley before turning her attention to Tom who stirred awake.
"Kai didn't come back?" Tom asked as he sat up in bed.
"I slept in my room with them" Amelia replied.
Tom nodded before getting out of bed.
"Im going to go over and see if they're alright" Tom said scratching the back of his head half asleep still.
"Alright" Amelia said before Tom shut the door leaving her and Ashley alone.
"Just do it already" Amelia looked at Ashley.
"Do what?" She asked
"get with them" Amelia smiled before standing from the bed and walking to the door.
"Where are you going?" Ashley asked.
"I'm going to do it. It's time" Ashely squeezed for her friend before standing with Amelia.
"You got this" Amelia took a deep breath before leaving Ashley alone in Kai's dorm.
"Tom could I speak to Kai alone?" It was early in the morning still so Kai was still laying in bed.
Kai's smile widened when Amelia poked her head through the door.
"I guess I'll allow it" Amelia rolled her eyes.
"It's my dorm" Tom just smiled before walking past Amelia and out of her dorm.
"What's up? What do you want to speak about?" Something seemed off with Amelia.
She walked over to them and without another words being said she kissed them.
Soft and passionate.
"Be my partner?" She asked breathless after their kiss.
"What?" Kai's heart started to beat faster.
Were they hearing things right? Did they have a concussion from when link hit them?
"Be my partner" Amelia repeated resting her forehead against theirs.
"You want to do this?" They asked smiling against Amelias cheek.
"I want you and all of you Kai. You're my best friend but you're also so much more. You're my soulmate" Kai didn't think it was possible to find someone that they felt for with so much compassion and love.
Here she was though standing right in front of them.
"You know the answer" Kai whispered before pressing their lips together again.
"Is that a yes Bartley?" Amelia asked as she pulled away from the kiss; the smile on her face threatening to break her face in half.
"That's a yes Shepard"
They both didn't realise that Tom and Ashley were stood outside Amelias dorm, ears pressed against the door.
"YES!" Tom shouted, whilst Ashley bounced around squealing.
"Finally!" Tom cheered fist bumping the air.
Kai and Amelia both laughed at their friends before Tom brought them in for a group hug.
"I don't do hugs" Kai stepped back whilst the others had a group hug.
"It's alright Bartley. Up top" Tom gave Kai a high five.
"What have I said about using my last name" Kai raised their eyebrow in warning.
"Oh shut up" Tom rustled Kai's hair before running out of Amelias dorm.
Ashley laughed and hugged Amelia one last time before following Tom.
"We did it" Amelia whispered as she stood closer to Kai, their hands interlocking.
"We did it" Kai whispered pressing their foreheads together.
