-Diluc's POV-
After Y/N had fallen asleep, I pretty much immediately went back to Mondstadt to find Kaeya.I did not understand why he would try to kill her, because he seemed to enjoy talking to her in the tavern. In fact, it was like he went there earlier than usual just to see her.
I clenched my fists, trying to control my anger. I had tried my hardest to just ignore Kaeya's stupidity and just live my life, but he had to go and ruin everything to the point my eyes twitched at the thought of him.
Finally, I found him, casually strolling around Mondstadt. He seemed pretty pleased with himself.
"Oh, Diluc? I'm assuming you found her?" Kaeya smirked and turned around. That grin he wore pissed me right off.
"Why did you hurt her?" I replied, trying not to sound as bothered as I was.
"Have you read her a bedtime story yet? Seeming as you care for her so much, my guess would be that you tuck her in to bed every night." His immaturity was already kicking in.
"What are you even talking about? I'm asking why you attempted to kill an innocent human, Kaeya."
He folded his arms.
"Innocent? Diluc, you are going to get attached to her. And then once she dies, you will be completely alone. Just like you were when father died."That last sentence felt like a punch.
"Father was not a human. How many times?" I replied, holding eye contact with him.
Kaeya chuckled quietly.
"Not this again. If he was a vampire, he'd still be alive. Besides, why are you and Y/N even close? You met yesterday, correct?""No, we met last week. And we aren't that close; that does not give you the right to try and kill somebody who did nothing wrong."
"Well..." He started, smiling. "Think about it. I'm being helpful. If you two hadn't met, you would have had nothing to grow attached to and in the future you won't become upset and lonely again."
"If you want to be helpful, do me a favor and leave us the hell alone." I coldly spat at him, before going back home with my speed.
I walked in quietly and locked the door, followed with a deep sigh.
Though I knew I hated it, something in my head wanted me to drink alcohol for once. They say it helps you feel numb, so why not give it a try?
A grabbed a bottle of wine and walked through to a different room. I sat down and broke the cap off before drinking a little.
It was disgusting, but I wanted to drink until I ached. I deserved it for letting an innocent person get hurt so severely.
Taking a deep breath, I drank about quarter of the wine before coughing and putting it back down.
"Ugh..."Almost tripping over the bottle, I went back upstairs and peeked into Y/N's room. She was awake, but was clearly about to doze off.
She glanced at me, making me jump after realizing I'd been spotted.
"Sorry... are you feeling any better yet?""Not really." She replied, lifting a brow. Though she did sound better than before.
"Oh..." I wiped my forehead.
"Have you been drinking?"
I looked up.
"What makes you... say that?""You smell of wine and you're hovering."
I turned around.
"Sorry... I'll go."She got up and walked towards me. Though I was drunk, I still felt my face flush.
"You need to go to bed. You're drunk."I stepped into my room and got into bed.
"Why did you drink?" Y/N started, sitting near me. "I thought you hated alcohol."
I nodded, shoving my face into a pillow.
"I do. I heard it makes you feel numb, so I tried it.""Oh... did Kaeya say something to you?"
I shook my head for a second before nodding.
"Yeah... but I'm not bothered about that... I'm angry that he hurt you."She sighed before pulling a blanket over me.
"Try and get some rest.""I'm meant to be taking care of you, you could have died..." I mumbled, trying to get up.
"No you're not, it's okay. I'll feel better if you get some sleep."
Hearing that, I pulled the sheets over me and shut my eyes.
"Okay. Goodnight. You get some rest too." It was not like me to act that way, precisely why I never drink.
But I fell asleep just fine - though all of that wine would come back to me in the morning.-My POV-
Diluc fell asleep fast. I left his room and quietly shut the door behind me and went back to bed. After what Kaeya had done, I was too scared and cautious to go near anyone except Diluc, as Kaeya was a 'famous' cavalry captain that could convince most people to do anything.
In addition to this, Diluc had literally saved me from death and I owed him so much for it.
