"Hold on... can you hear that?"
I turned around. I could hear some sort of... struggling?

Diluc stopped in his tracks and listened too. He nodded and took hold of my hand.
"We should go investigate... somebody could be in trouble."

We went to the source of the sounds and found Kaeya laying on the ground. His eyes were tightly shut.

Diluc's eyes widened and he instantly kneeled down beside him and started shaking his shoulders to try and wake him up.
"He's alive, but unconscious. He must have been hit with a heavy object... out cold. Where is Xiong?"

I glanced behind me.
There he was, holding a large bat and less than a second away from smashing Diluc's head in. I had no idea where he even got that thing from... but I am not stupid, and I realized one hit would knock someone straight out.

I pushed him out of the way... but unfortunately got hit instead.
My vision quickly went blurry. Just before I fell unconscious, I briefly saw Diluc slowly starting to stand up and glaring at the person who had hurt me and Kaeya.

Diluc's POV
After seeing Y/N get knocked out by the bat Xiong was holding, I stood up. The only emotion I could feel was rage. He had the audacity to hurt both my brother and my girlfriend, and thought he could get away with it?

"Ah. Wrong person... gosh, she's quite annoying."
Xiong pouted his lips and let the bat rest on his shoulder. He seemed like he wanted to look at everything... except me.

"Why do you keep doing this? What have we done to you?"

"You killed me."

I scoffed, and I felt a grin appear on my face.
"Yes, you were being a creep. You resorted to making people uncomfortable and thought it was a wise idea to try and kill Y/N?"

He chuckled, which just made me even more angry.
"And I'll attempt it again. I can't see why you like her so much."

I folded my arms.
"This is ridiculous."

"Perhaps, but if you even think about leaving, I'll kill them both before you can do anything else."

We both noticed Kaeya had regained consciousness, and his eyes opened. Normally, it could take hours for someone to wake up after experiencing head trauma. Luckily, that changes for a vampire.
He saw Y/N laying next to him and panicked.
"Y/N? Are you alright?"

Xiong smiled at the sight.
"Relax, cavalry, she's alive and well. For now. Stand up."

Kaeya sighed.
"You think you're tough... but you're really not. Nobody here is scared of you, Xiong, just give it up already."

He ignored Kaeya's statement.
"It looks like she has both of you wrapped around her finger. I have to say, I'm impressed. But I want her dead." He shrugged his shoulders and walked towards her.

"Xiong..." I started, anger filling my words. "If you lay a finger on her I will kill you."

"I've heard that one before." He stood beside her and smirked. "I just want to see her in pain. Surely you understand that, Kaeya?"

Y/N regained consciousness as well. Xiong noticed this and stomped his foot on to her ankle, causing her to jolt up.
She groaned in pain. Something must have broken, surely?

I ran towards him and pulled him off of her. Kaeya helped her off of the ground.

My POV
"Sprained..." I mumbled as Kaeya helped me to my feet. In the distance, Diluc and Xiong were fighting each other. Pretty violently, too.

"Ugh..." Diluc let out a grunt as Xiong threw him, his back harshly hitting a tree.
Kaeya ran towards the scene and tried to assist Diluc. I did the same, but tears were forming in my eyes as to how badly my ankle was hurting.

"Does your ankle hurt, Y/N? Yes? Good, good, I'm glad." Xiong chuckled, though he was out of breath. They were throwing a lot of punches at each other.

This time, Kaeya got thrown back.
Xiong caught his fist and dropped him backwards - he hit the ground.
Diluc was exhausted but he kept on telling himself he could not stop.

'Xiong should not remain on this Earth, he is a threat to Mondstadt.'

All of a sudden, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards him, facing a tree.
The tree had a branch sticking out of it.

"You see that, Y/N..." Xiong stated, pointing at the branch. "That is going straight into here." He poked his finger where my heart is.

He started to run towards the tree, and I was completely helpless and unable to move.
Kaeya pulled the branch off and Xiong stopped.

"No, no, it's going straight into here."
He shoved the branch into Xiong's chest, once and for all.

He let go of me, and I fell on to the grass next to Diluc.

"And just to be safe..."
Kaeya put his hands just under Xiong's jaw.

Diluc put his arm over my shoulder and covered my eyes.
"It's probably best if you do not see this."

When he moved his hand, Xiong's head was on the ground, separate from his body.
"I don't think this is it."
I added, noticing all of the men running through.

"They killed Master Xiong! Get them now!" One of them yelled.

"Xiong promised us money if we served him, so we better get our revenge!" Another yelled.

I got up and used my speed to appear behind them.
I pulled one back towards me and sunk my teeth into his neck.

Once his blood entered my system, I felt the pounding pain in my ankle slowly start to disappear. I had been waiting all day for more blood.
"You know, I don't think I will ever get used to the sight of Y/N drinking blood." Kaeya mumbled, while fighting them off.

It took ages to finish each and every one of them off, but we did it.
Finally, everything was at peace

No more Xiong.

No more men serving Xiong.

And best of all,

No more things to be scared of.

The three of us lay on the grass, tired as hell. It had been a loooong day.

Kaeya sighed.
"If we have to do that 25 more times... I'm going to go insane."

Diluc's POV
-NOW-
Kaeya was wrong.
It has been a long time since that fight happened. 18 months, to be exact. Xiong is nowhere to be found, and everything has gone back to the way it used to be. Time really does fly.

It is extraordinary to me how I only met Y/N 2 years ago, yet I am so deeply in love with her. The years have been rough, and it was not easy
... but we made it. And that is why I made the choice.

---

"2 years already! Wow, that went so quickly, don't you think?"

My heart was pounding, that's for sure.

"Y/N, erm..."
There was no turning back now.

"Yeah? Is everything okay?"
Her voice... I love her voice.

My hand travelled to my pocket, and I took it into my palm.
This was it. It was finally happening.

I knew I was going to start shaking.

I firmly held the box, and got down on to one knee.
My heart fluttered as I saw her eyes light up.

I opened the box, not breaking eye contact. It revealed a shining diamond ring.

"Y/N... will you marry me?"
