Diluc's POV
I accidentally knocked over my pot of ink as Adelinde left the room.
I didn't bother to pick it up.
Instead, I watched as the black ink spread across the paper - it reminded me of the blood I saw so often.

My feelings were controlling me, but I couldn't help but to feel saddened.

Even if Y/N was to share the same feelings with me... a relationship probably would not work.
Again, I am a vampire.
I will not age.

...Yet I yearned to feel her touch again.

Gazing back out the window, I noticed that the three of them were no longer outside.
With my vampire abilities, I could hear things very well. I didn't tend to use that ability, but... the temptation took over me.

---

"So, Y/N! I have a question for you."
They all took a seat.

It sounded like they had been asking her questions all morning, so I wasn't surprised.

"Yes, what is it?"

Her voice made my heart flutter.
I couldn't help that... though I wanted it to happen more often.

"Tell us what you think of him!"

I froze, and started listening closely.

"Him...?"
Y/N sounded nervous. I could not exactly tell why...

Moco giggled.
"Master Diluc, of course! What do you think of him?"

"Uh... well... in what way?"

Hillie put her hand on her chin.
"Hmm... romance! Do you like him~?"

"I-I don't know...?"

At least it wasn't a no.

"Ah, what do you mean? You either like him or you don't, right?"

Y/N sighed and I could tell she had no idea what to say.

"Diluc sees me as a friend, and only that... so even if I did, I would have to keep it a secret."

Who told her that?

---
I stopped listening in and smiled to myself.
So she did share the same feelings with me... then the next step was figuring out what I could do about the vampire part.

The only way to stop Y/N from aging... would be to turn her into a vampire.

I didn't think she'd be ready for that, ever.
I also didn't want to make that choice for her. She has a life ahead of her, and no way was I going to take that away.

There was no way I could hold in my feelings anymore.
I had to tell her.

My POV

"I'm... not sure that's true, Y/N."
We turned around and spotted Adelinde. She had a huge grin on her face - which probably confused Moco and Hillie.

She gestured for me to come upstairs with her, so I stood up and did as she wanted me to.

"What do you mean, it's not true?"
I tilted my head, intrigued.

"Master Diluc told me not to tell anyone this, but I heard what you just said. It's-"

I shook my head.
"Don't tell me, he trusted you not to. He'll tell me when the time is right, if he decides to."
I was about to turn back around, but I heard footsteps behind me.
Diluc had walked out of his office, and had a grateful smile on his face.

He had heard what we said.

"Thank you, Adelinde. We'll be heading off now.

---

We left the winery quite quickly after I said goodbye to Moco and Hillie.

"Are you okay? You seem like you are relieved that we left."

Diluc nodded, and he turned around to look at me.
The smile that was on his face before was still there, which was unexpected.

"I have been meaning to tell you something for a while now. Would you be so kind as to follow me?"
I agreed to his request - though my heart started to beat faster.

What could he end up telling me?
I had no clue, and it was so exhilarating yet so unpredictable.

We walked for a little while in silence, which made the atmosphere even more tense.

Soon, we reached some sort of forest.
It was dark and completely surrounded by trees... more than you'd usually expect to see.

"I..."
Diluc turned around, and his gaze averted to the floor.
He seemed really nervous about telling me whatever he wanted to say.

"Before I continue," He started, slightly looking up at me. "Please listen to all I have to say before you reply."

I nodded.

"Y/N, when I first met you... I could tell that we had a lot in common. You were scared. But it wasn't of me, was it? You were scared because you didn't want to die without experiencing the things you've dreamed of..."

I kept quiet. He was absolutely right... but I still didn't know where this could be going.

"These things... I do not know for certain, but I can take a guess. You want to feel... appreciated, cared for... and loved."

I started to breath quicker.
Deep down, I had a rough idea of what he was going to say.

"And..."
Diluc slowly walked closer towards me. He gazed into my eyes, as if they represented stars in the night sky.
"I want to give you them. I want to make you feel them."

I didn't have the strength to break my eye contact with him.

"Y/N, what I am trying to say is..."
He let out a quiet laugh and took a deep breath.

"I've... fallen in love with you."
