-My POV-
The rising sun cast a rosy hue across the morning sky, rays of light pouring through the window.

I dragged myself out of bed and decided to get changed, though I was almost convinced that Diluc was still sleeping in his bedroom.

Afterwards, I started to walk down the stairs, but a pleasant aroma hit me.
'What's that smell?' I thought to myself.

When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I analyzed all of the rooms, searching for Diluc and whatever that fragrance was.

Peeking into the kitchen, I noticed Diluc was stood in there, cooking something. I did not want to disturb him, yet was so tempted to talk to him.

Either way, it seemed the universe had chosen that decision itself, because he looked behind him and spotted me.

"Oh, good morning," Diluc started, after his face lit up knowing I was awake. "Apologies, I hadn't realized you had woken up. How did you sleep?"

"I slept well, actually. Especially after falling asleep so early." I laughed under my breath. "How about you?"

"Thank you for asking, I slept quite decently, despite waking up a while before my alarm." He responded, turning back around.

"What are you making?" I asked, unable to see it from a distance.

"As I said, I woke up early this morning. I had some time to spare, so I decided to make us both breakfast.

My eyes widened a little.
"Aw, that's kind of you!" I grinned.

Diluc chuckled and shook his head.
"It's no big deal. I suppose it is just a nice, energizing thing to start the day.."

"It is! Oh, but did you feed this morning? I have to ask, since you did not look well when you forgot the other day."

"I did. It's sweet of you to remember, though." He added, while plating up the food. "Sorry, I'm not quite used to cooking, as you could probably tell. I hope it's okay."

Diluc handed me a plate with really good looking food on it.
I could have sworn I accidentally let out  a quiet gasp, but I couldn't be sure.

"Are you kidding? It looks incredible, thank you so much!"

We took a seat at a table and started to eat our breakfast.
It was delicious - who would've known, an actual vampire was amazing at cooking.

---

Not too long after, we both finished eating.
"I have a shift at the tavern soon, by the way." Diluc said, not saying anything about how tasty the food was.

"Oh." I mumbled. As much as I wanted to go with him, I guess we both knew it was too risky with Kaeya there. It'd be awkward, too.

"So... Adelinde offered for you to stay at the winery until my shift is over. There are two maids there, Moco and Hillie, who would be overjoyed to stay with you." He added, sounding a little reluctant.

"Really? That's nice of her."

"It is, but Moco and Hillie are... ah, how should I put this? Quite... excitable. When I say overjoyed, they would probably not give you any space, and they will be obsessed with you."

A smile grew on to my face.
"That's fine. I'd rather that than be around Kaeya, if I'm honest."

Diluc seemed surprised, but he agreed.
"Okay, then. I do trust them to take care of you. Though quite childish at times, they are responsible."

"Honestly, Diluc, I'll be alright. Don't worry. When does your shift end?"

"10 in the evening, try not to fall asleep this time..." He got up and took our plates. I noticed a smirk on his face, which basically told me he was only joking.

---

We had gotten ready and left to go to the winery early, as Diluc needed to get to his shift.
When we arrived, I spotted two maids stood beside the entrance, chatting amongst themselves. They seemed really nice.

"That must be her!" The brownish-haired maid tapped the other, and she noticed us as well.

"Good morning, Master Diluc!" They both chirped.

"This is her, if I am correct?" The dark blonde haired one asked.

"Yes, this is Y/N." He replied, folding his arms. "I trust you will be responsible and will keep her safe until I am back."

"Of course!"

---

We entered the winery, and a few more people were in there. I only knew Adelinde.

"I'm Moco." The brown-haired maid exclaimed.

"And I'm Hillie, it's nice to meet you!" The other smiled.

"It's great how Adelinde is off our backs for today. It seems she has a soft spot for you, Y/N!" Moco giggled quietly.

"I met her yesterday, that could be why?" I replied, to which they nodded.

"Alright, let's go and sit down." Hillie started. "I have questions for you!"
She walked to a dining table and we sat down.

"Tell me about yourself!" Hillie proceeded to ask, intrigued.

I was about to say something random about myself, before I felt a hand run through my hair.
Me and Hillie looked at Moco, who looked mesmerized.

"What? Her hair is so pretty!"

I laughed, thinking she was joking.
Hillie even agreed and started to try and brush a strand of my hair with her fingers, as if I were a new doll that a child had just been given.

As much as I loved meeting them, they were really sociable. I kept quiet about them touching my hair. I did not mind in the slightest, but it was a loophole to avoid any awkward questions.

"You're so gorgeous!" Moco squealed quietly. "I can completely understand why you and Master Diluc are... well, you know! Together!"

I almost choked on oxygen.
"Woah woah woah, we're friends!"

"Oh, sorry! So does that mean you like him?! Or does he like you? Ahhh, this is so-"

She was cut off by Adelinde's voice.
"Hillie, Moco, calm down. You musn't be barging into people's lives. You should go and complete your cleaning."

Hillie groaned.
"But Adelinde, we're with Y/N!"

"Y/N does not need babysitters. Those leaves won't blow away themselves."

They sighed and left the winery.

"I'm sorry about them. I suppose Master Diluc has not had such a close friend for  a while, and they are not used to that." Adelinde smiled, cleaning the dining table.

"Why has he not had friends?"

She looked at me for a moment.
"When his father died, he completely shut off from everybody. But now, I can see you bring him back that happiness he used to feel. Perhaps he admires that, and wants to make sure you're safe in return."

My gaze averted to the floor. I did not realize I could have thought about it that way, and I felt incredibly guilty for ever thinking badly about him or being scared before I got to know him. I felt a completely different way about him, but I did not know what it was. Admiration? Jealousy? I had no idea whatsoever.

"I am assuming Master Diluc has done something kind for you at least once. Whether it is something big or small, you should let him know how grateful you are for it. I am sure it will cheer him up a lot." Adelinde gave me a quick smile before she left to continue with her work.

She was right.
He had saved my life.

I just had to think of a way of repaying him for it, and showing my gratitude at the same time.
