"It's okay...?"

Kaeya stared at me blankly. I obviously didn't give him a satisfactory answer.

"Okay? What do you mean, is there something wrong?"
Even Diluc seemed confused at what I had said.

"No, no... but I have a feeling something is going to go wrong. Like... after everything that happened... it feels like... I don't know, maybe the good things are temporary..?"

They both stared at me as if I had just chugged an entire bottle of Dandelion Wine.

"I understand." Diluc lowered his voice, so that no one except the two of us heard him. "But I believe that nothing else will happen. You should believe in that as well."

Kaeya sipped his drink and nodded.
"Yes, I agree. I can not think of anything that will oppose a threat to us - you are just frightened. A lot has happened recently."

"Yeah, you're right..." I sighed to myself. "I guess I'm overreacting."

Seconds after I said that, the tavern door swung open.
My heart dropped as I saw who it was.

Kaeya turned around. His eyebrows furrowed.
"Again? Seriously? And here's me thinking we had him last time."

Diluc almost dropped the glass he was holding and turned to me in shock.

"Did you miss me?"
The person took a seat and took a deep breath. I was not even surprised at that point.

"I could've sworn Y/N killed you. Are you invincible, or something?"
Kaeya glanced from me to Xiong. He had that smirk on his face that we despised ever so much.

"Yes, it surprised me too when I woke up and found a stick buried in my chest... it took me a week to make my way here. I had to keep stop-"

"We don't need your life story," I spat at him. Xiong immediately noticed my presence and lifted his eyebrows. "What are you doing here? Why do you keep reappearing?"

He chuckled, before glaring at me.
"Since when did you get so sassy? Last time I saw you, you were terrified of me."

I smiled at him.
"Maybe it's because you're human now, and I can rip you to shreds without blinking? Well, knowing you, you'd probably come back as a dolphin or something."

Xiong folded his arms. I had clearly ticked him off.
"Yes, I have a plan A, B, C, D... well, you know how the alphabet goes, right?"

I got out of my chair, ready to rip his head off... but Diluc gave me a 'it's-not-worth-it' look, and I sat back down.

"Aww, how adorable. Looking out for one another... it's a shame Diluc can't look out for his father, though..."

Too far.

Kaeya firmly grabbed Xiong's collar. He looked as if he'd just been paralyzed - but his smug grin stayed in place.

"Say that again, you bastard."

Xiong cleared his throat.
"Easy for you to say, Kaeya, you lost two of them... what're you gonna do? Freeze me to death?"

Kaeya cracked his knuckles and grasped Xiong's wrist.
"Much worse than that."

He turned to me and Diluc and gave us a nod, telling us that he'll deal with him. As soon as they left, I let my head droop down to the table.

"Are you alright?" I asked. Diluc seemed upset by what Xiong had said, and rightfully so. We were lucky he wasn't a vampire this time.

"I'm... um..."
He was obviously not okay.

"Do you want to get out of here?"

He nodded and put everything he was holding down.

---

We got around halfway back home, before Diluc suddenly stopped while using his speed.
Upon noticing him, I stopped as well.

"I'm sorry, I... I just... I want to kill him."

I took a deep breath.
"Me too... Kaeya is most likely dealing with him, and everything will be fine. Promise."

"I believe you. If he comes back one more time, I will not spare him."

"He definitely will not come back next time. There is no way he can come back to life 26 times for each letter of the alphabet."

Diluc laughed quietly at my statement.
"Yes, I suppose you're right. Thank you... let's head home, there is no point standing out in this cold weather."
