Diluc's POV
"I'm here." I said to Kaeya, while waiting for him to show himself. "Any idea of where they could be?"

Kaeya appeared in front of me and chuckled.
"As a matter of fact, I do. Though it'll be risky trying to get there."

"Just tell me where it is, and I will decide that for myself."

"Cold. I have a feeling they went back to the tavern after we left, where there are witnesses. Either that, or they've completely gone."

"Then, tell me, how will we kill them in the tavern? There's no way they will follow us out."

"Yes, you're right, but-"
Kaeya stopped talking and turned around.

"What? What is it?"

He started walking towards something.
"Quiet."

If you focused properly, you could be able to hear faint voices. We could hear them perfectly well, though, because of our hearing ability.

"But where did that girl go? You know, the one he was about to kill?"

Me and Kaeya gave eachother a quick glance before nodding.

"No idea... but I haven't seen Xiong in ages, either..."

"You do realize he's dead, right?" One of them stopped walking. "That same girl from the tavern killed him. I can just sense it."

"Wait, what? She killed him...? But she's just a human?"

"Well, yeah... I don't know how she did it. We will have to kill her before she kills us."

"Where could she be?"

"Her hand was bleeding in the tavern. We can just follow her scent-"

Kaeya used his speed to quickly attack them. I didn't expect him to do it so suddenly, but I did the same.

"Hey! What the hell?!"

"She didn't do anything wrong, you bastards. Mind your own businesses."
He snapped both of their necks again and sighed.

"I thought you hated Y/N."
I asked, brushing dirt off of my clothes.

"...Not if she makes you happy. Come on, let's go and get rid of the bodies."

---

We disposed of them both and I wiped my forehead in exhaustion. It was pretty late already, and we weren't even sure if there were any others.

"Were those two the only vampires in the tavern?" I questioned, before leaning my back against a wall.

"I believe so," Kaeya chuckled and stretched his arms. "It's funny how whenever things are going back to normal, someone always has to ruin it."

I nodded. That was exactly what I had said to Y/N before I left.

"It only started happening when you and Y/N first met... though you still spend time with her, even at the most dangerous moments...?"

"Yes. I couldn't just abandon her. Ever."

Kaeya chuckled and stood beside me.
"You really care for her, huh... have you thought about... you know, turning her?"

"Of course I have. But I can't take away somebody's choice like that, Kaeya. It's not fair."

"Have you even asked her about it? If you two don't make a decision soon, then... well, you know how it works, right?"

I folded my arms and looked the other way. I knew he was quite pushy, but... deep down, I knew he was right.

"I'll ask her when... the time is right-"

"And when is that?" Kaeya interrupted, while smirking at me. It pissed me off. He was acting so casual... yet I was worrying about it.

"...I don't know. I'm going home, if you're done talking."

He chuckled, and with that, I left.

---

When I entered my home, it was almost silent.

I headed upstairs and I noticed Y/N was fast asleep - it was late, so it was not unexpected.

I got under the covers next to her, and blankly stared at the ceiling.
Kaeya was right. I had to ask her at some point... but what if she said no? I wouldn't be able to overcome losing her if she did continue to age... but at the same time, it would be so difficult for her to have to feed on people...

My thoughts were interrupted by her turning over and leaning on my arm.

"God, I love you..." I whispered under my breath. She laughed quietly at what I had said.

Upon realizing she heard me, I immediately got flustered and tried to deny it.
"Y-You didn't hear that...!"

Y/N smirked at me.
"Okay, okay, I didn't hear it. You're back early, did you find them?"

I sighed in relief.
"Luckily, yes. They were coincidentally in the same place as us."

She yawned quietly and pulled the duvet up to my chest.

"That's good... hopefully everything will be okay now..."

My mind told me that it would be a good time to ask... my heart was pounding, but if I didn't do it now, then I never would.
"Ah... can I... ask you something?"

"Of course."

There was no turning back. Literally.
"How would you feel... about becoming... like me?"

Her eyes widened.
"Huh?"

"I'm sorry, it's so sudden, but... I don't want to see you age without me, it doesn't feel right..."

"I... um..."

"You don't have to say yes... but... I would help you get used to everything. I could... do the fighting for you, if you didn't want to... a-and-"

She pressed her lips against my cheek, catching me off guard.
"It's okay. I'll think about it... it's not a big decision to make on my behalf, I can't find a reason not to."

I felt a huge weight come off of my shoulders.
"Kaeya... told me to ask. I was too nervous to say it by myself."

"You don't have to be nervous to tell me anything. We can talk about it in the morning... that way, it'll be more relaxed."

I nodded.
That is another thing I admire about her - she stays calm and reassures me when I'm nervous, even if she feels nervous herself.

"Goodnight, Diluc. I love you."
She mumbled, before shutting her eyes.

"I love you too..." I replied, holding her in my arms.
