A few hours passed, and I woke up.
Both of us had slept longer than intended.

I felt a strange, throbbing pain in my arm. It wasn't unbearable, but I was a little too worried to not look at it.
I pulled up my sleeve and noticed the bite mark that Xiong gave me was still there. When he bit me, it only drew a tiny bit of blood - so why would the mark stay there?

"Hello."

Diluc's voice made me jump - I thought he was still upstairs.

"Ah! You scared me..." I replied, holding a hand on my chest.

"Oh, I apologize." Diluc sat beside me and gave me a small smile. "Thank you for persuading me to rest. I haven't done so in a while."

I nodded.

"You seem... distressed. Is anything the matter?" He asked, glancing at me in concern.

"Yeah, it's just... my arm..."
I stopped talking and rolled up my sleeve again.

Diluc held my arm and examined the bite mark. My heart skipped a beat once again - his hands were so warm, despite being a vampire.

"Hmm... it looks like just a bruise. Let me know if you'd like an ice pack or anything for it."

"Thanks."

Even though I tried to seem like I was fine, Diluc didn't look like he was convinced.
All of a sudden, he put his hand on my forehead.

"Are you feeling unwell?"

I shook my head.

"Okay." He moved his hand back to his side. "How are you feeling? You know, after everything that's happened today?"

"I could ask you the same thing. He really hurt you."

Diluc looked down. He didn't want to admit it.

"Yes, but... it has all healed up now. I'm completely fine, I promise. Though... I would not be here if you and Kaeya weren't there."

"Kaeya found that place, not me. If it weren't for him... I don't think I would have got there in time." I admitted with a sigh.

"You killed Xiong. Meaning you stopped him from killing other people, which is incredible in my eyes." Diluc would not take his eyes off me - he was trying his best to convince me.

"When you killed him... did you feel bad? Like, at all?" I asked. I knew I didn't, because Xiong hurt so many people. Including me and Diluc.

"Not one bit. But I would have been more careful if I remembered the possibility of him becoming a vampire."
I made eye contact with him for a few seconds, before I looked away.

"Would you go back to being a human if you could?"

"If I am honest... no. It's amazing in some ways. The heightened emotions, the speed, even the mind control in some ways. But... I don't enjoy killing innocent people. Nor the fact that I can't age."

-Diluc's POV-
"Why don't you like not aging?"

I knew that question would come up at some point.
Of course, the actual reason was entirely different to what I was going to say.

If I were to meet a human that I loved, they'd have to age without me, and... that wouldn't work out.
I decided not to tell her that. I can't read her thoughts, and if I did say it, it  might have upset her in some way.

"Every few years, people would realise I'm not growing older. I'd have to make up a pathetic excuse."

The reason seemed to make sense to her, fortunately.
"Ah, yeah, that makes sense. Well... I don't really know how long you've been a vampire... but you're kind of lucky, in a way. You got a second chance at life when you thought you were going to die."

I'd never thought of it that way. And she wasn't wrong, either.

"You have a way better mindset them me. I guess you're right."

She gave me a warm smile.
That was what I loved the most.

As more time went by, I found out that my thoughts were correct.
Slowly but surely, I was falling in love with Y/N.

"I love your smile..." I mumbled. I was not sure whether I intended for her to hear it or not - but either way, she did.

I watched as her face went a shade of pink.
"You're too nice to me..." She whispered back, hiding her smile.

I chuckled to myself.
I was starting to grow aware of my emotions. It was exhilarating.
