That stupid feeling had come back.
The one where I felt like I was just being a burden.

"Hey, Diluc...?" I noticed him when I went downstairs after waking up.

"Yes?"

My gaze averted to the floor.
"I was wondering... if you'd let me go somewhere on my own today? It's not like I don't want to stay here with you, I just-"

"Of course, you don't really have to ask me."
That was easier than I had thought.

I thanked him quickly and went upstairs to get ready.

I planned to go back to my old house and to see if there were any valuables still there. The treasure hoarders from before didn't end up taking anything, so it was worth a shot.

After getting dressed, I went back downstairs.

"Please be careful. I know you can take care of yourself, but you know where I am just in case." Diluc reassured me before I left.

It was not too long of a walk, but it felt like hours because it was so boring being on my own.
I fought a few hilichurls on the way there, nothing else remotely exciting happened.

When I got to my house, I was instantly hit with nostaglia. It had been nearly a month since I'd been there, though it felt like yesterday.
I could still see some of the treasure hoarder's items outside and footsteps from when we were there.

"I don't think anyone has been inside..." I whispered to myself, before stepping inside.
Luckily, the bodies weren't there. Perhaps they'd been taken? Or just rotted. It was disturbing either way.

The carpet had brownish stains all over it, which was the dried blood. It smelled and looked disgusting, let alone walking on to it.
"I just need to find anything useful. It's so nasty in here..."

I searched through each drawer in my bedroom - it was full of things I didn't need, like hairbrushes and dusty, unused notebooks.

Stepping over the blood stains, I glanced at my bed. Maybe I had hidden something there and forgot about it?

I slowly lifted the duvet.

A few bugs ran around on the mattress, and I fell back in shock and disgust.
My hand shoved into the stains on the carpet and it was even worse. It was rock hard and made me feel sick.

As I fell, something around me must have lost it balance and smashed. Glass shot across the floor and the noise spooked me.

I moved my hand and got off the floor. My house was completely ruined and very unhygenic.
"Surely there has to be something of use around here..."

I peered slightly underneath a shelf and noticed something I had lost a long time ago.

It was nothing too important.

Just a teddy bear from when I was a child.

I excitedly reached to grab it, but the rest of its body was not attached.
Somehow, its head was off and the stuffing was scattered around it.

I picked it up and sighed. I shouldn't have expected to find anything good in that dump.

I placed it in my bag and sadly left my home, closing the door behind me.

There was no point going back there. It was horrible, those treasure hoarders must have stocked up on everything decent.

On the way back, I picked up some random flowers - mostly small lamp grass. There was nothing else to do.

Around 30 minutes later, I got back home. I stepped into Diluc's house and took off my shoes.
"Oh, you're back? How was it?" He leaned against the door frame.

I tried to make it seem like I wasn't upset.
"I-It was good...!" I couldn't even maintain eye contact, I was that sad about it.

"Are you sure?" He gazed at me suspiciously.

"Um... yeah, I just went back to my old house to see if there was anything left." My voice got shaky. I wasn't even fully sure why I was feeling down. Was it the bear? The bugs? The state? I didn't know.

"And? Anything?" I was dreading that part. I knew I would not be able to say much, so I reached into my bag and showed him the head of the bear.

"Hm?"
Diluc seemed a little confused.

"It's just... something I had as a child."
My words broke up and it felt like I was about to cry. I squeezed my eyes shut and turned my head in hopes that the feeling would go away.

As I spoke, Diluc seemed to noticed how I sounded like I was about to break. Though not really knowing what to do, his gaze softened and he walked towards me.

"It is okay to cry if you need to..." He said. Upon hearing it, I let all of the tears spill out of my eyes, though I kept quiet. "It can be a release of emotions, like letting go of emotional debris or waste."

I sniffed and rubbed my eyes with my wrist.

"I'm sorry the morning wasn't very good for you, I will try my best to make your day better." Diluc gave me a light smile and put his hand on my head for a moment, before leaving the room.

I looked down at the teddy bear's head and sighed. I was glad I had found something after all.

I went back upstairs and put the bear away, before I heard Diluc call my name.
"Y/N?"

I walked down the stairs.
"Yeah?"

"I made you a hot drink, and there are some blankets for you in the other room. I did tell you I'd try make your day better..."

My heart melted, and I knew that everything would be alright after all.
