Chapter 8

"You can still go back you know." Pit says quietly staring at the grey water lapping at my boat. "I wouldn't mind." he adds still not looking at me.

"I made my choice." I answer with a voice shaky from crying a few minutes ago "I won't go back on it." I reassure myself. Pit finally looks at me with anguish in those usually happy blue eyes "But I asked too much of you!" he protests.

"I asked you to leave your home, your job, your friends. I asked you to leave your life behind! All to help me. Just because I couldn't save myself and that I couldn't accept death." he gives me a weak smile looking away once again.

"You weren't supposed to die." I reply heart broken at the usually happy boy's sudden sadness.

"It wasn't your job to help me!"

"I am supposed to help every spirit in need."

"Still!"

"It was my choice, Pit." I say seriously, he nods understandingly and keeps staring at the water.

I can tell he's still sad. I row once more with my arms aching from rowing quickly, the oar splashes through the water and we are sailing at a slow pace. It's unnerving seeing such a happy, pure angel so quiet! Usually he can't shut up.

An idea pops into my head.

"What's your story?" I ask giving him a smile, not that he could see since I was still wearing my hood. He looks up surprised "HUH?!" I roll my eyes "You heard me."

"I uh- well... I'm the captain of Lady Palutena's army Lady Palutena's the-"

"Goddess of light." I finish "How did you know?!" Pit looks at me confused. "Hades rants about you two all the time." I explain he nods and continues.

"I was trying to stop Medusa but then turns out Hades is the real lord of the underworld-"

I interrupt him once again "You thought MEDUSA was the lord of the underworld?!" I start giggling "Hades resurrects her like every ten years or so!" I shake my head in disbelief. "Hey! We didn't know that!" Pit defends himself.

"Anyways then aliens came from space called the chaos kin that corrupted Lady Palutena. Then she trapped my soul in a ring and made my body fight humans for three years."

"I finally got a dog to pick me up and take me to Magnus who wore me. That's how I got to control him and fought my body and got better again!"

I yawn bored and a Bit surprised at his story.

"Then I went to Lady Palutena with Viridi and tried to save her! The chaos kin went into a chaos vortex through a hole in the sky and Pittoo crashed the hole with the lightning chariot and we broke in."

"Then we fought the chaos kin but it dragged Pittoo down. I had already used the power of flight but I had to save him. My wings burnt up and here I am."

Pit finishes his story with a smile. It's a few seconds before I realise he's finished, it was a long and boring story, but I'm relieved he's smiling again.

"That was interesting...?" I say a bit weirded out that aliens invaded and I did not know.

"Can we go any faster?" Pit asks.

I glance at the water, indeed we are going pretty slow. I'm going slower than usual but that's because I have a passenger that is alive. Spirits are weightless which explains why it's so hard to row my gondola now.

"Well, can we?" Pit asks again.

"It's not my fault you're so heavy!" I snap back!

"I'm not heavy!"

"How much do you weigh?!"

"It's rude to ask a lady her weight!"

"Are you a lady?!"

"NO!"

"Then?!"

"Fine I weigh 43!"

(Yes reader I searched up every sub character's weight- I'm THAT obsessed)

"That's heavy!"

"No it isn't!"

"I don't mean you kid!"

"THEN?!"

"I'm rowing 100 kilos right now including me, you and the boat with a tiny stick for the past thirty minutes!" I snap at him. Pit looks at me with bis eyes widened "Oh...." he looks away "I can row if you want." he offers. I happily accept and sit down at the back.

The boat shakes as we switch places, Pit picks up my oar. "WAIT!" I yell I hand him the spare oar and take my oar back. I didn't want Messorem messing with him... I also didn't want him to know about Messoem.

He looks at me weirdly and holds the new oar in his hands. He tries rowing once- we barely move "Put some more muscle into it cupid!" I call out stifling a snicker at the glare he gives me.

"HNG!" He grunts with effort pushing the oar against the water with all the strength he can muster. The gondola goes really fast with a lurch "How's that for muscle." Pit smirks proudly looking at me with challenge.

"Not bad kid, not bad." I say a bit impressed "Don't spend it all at once!" I warn him. Pit nods and continues to row my gondola.

I lie down in my gondola for the first time- I've always had to row it myself. It made for a nice change having cupid row it while I rested.

"This is the life!" I sighed happily.

"Good to know you enjoy slave driving handsome angels..." Pit groans.

"SHUT IT CUPID! YOU'RE RUINING THE MOMENT!" I snap "Though you're right I do enjoy it." I add before relaxing once again.

I open my eyes a few seconds later and see Pit smirking at me looking really smug and happy about something. I raise an eyebrow in question before realisation kicks in like a kangaroo.

"YOU ARE NOT HANDSOME!" I shout at him feeling a bit flustered that I fell for that.

"That's not what you said a few seconds agooooo!" He chirps still smirking like an idiot.

"STOP!"

"oooooh! Little Y/N is feeling embarrassed!" He teases bending closer to me.

I back away "WHAT HAPPENED TO BEING INNOCENT AND PURE!?"

He thinks a little before answering "You."

My cheeks heat up "SHUT UP! WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!" I scream getting really annoyed and flustered.

"You know what it means." Pit answers his voice trailing off still looking very satisfied with himself.

"WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?! WHY ARE YOU SUDDENLY SO FLIRTATIOUS?!" I yell really cheesed at how easily he can annoy me.

"Now that I know how easy it is to make you flustered-" He begins.

"NO!" I interrupt.

"I will do it more often~" He says with another smirk and row with his oar.

"WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS?!"

"Would you rather I wasn't~?"

"WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!"
