Tommys Fault

Rose is 20. Finn is 10

Polly pov

When her mother died, Rose felt the need to protect finn. Despite her only being 10, she looked after him all the time. When the boys went to war it changed from a sibling relationship to her acting as his mother. They came back months ago and soon discovered that Rose is very protective of her little brother.

"I've had enough. Im going to find him" she said as me ada and Rose were sat waiting for finn

"Rose love, he's fine. You know what he's like" I told her

"I don't care. Somethings wrong I can feel it" she said grabbing her coat and walking out.

Tommy pov

I was at the garrison when rose ran in frantically. She looked about before spotting us and running towards us

"What's wrong?" John asked sitting her down

"Have you seen finn?" She asked, her hands shaking

"No love. I thought he was out with his friends" Arthur said

"He is. But I've got a bad feeling and it's starting to get dark." She explained. With our family rising in the illegal and legal world, rose has been worrying about Finns safety even more than usual

"Rose. Calm down. Its 4 o'clock. Have a drink and just relax. He'll be back soon" I told her handing her my drink.

"No. I can't look after finn if I'm intoxicated" she said

"It's one drink. I'm sure you'll be fine" Arthur said

"I don't care. I'm not putting finn to bed after drinking alcohol. I'm gonna go find him" she told us standing up

"You can't go walking around alone" I told her

"And what finn can? He's a boy tommy" she said tears forming in her eyes

"Bugger. Right ill come with ya" I caved. She smiled at me and grabbed my hand pulling my out of the pub. We walked around a few alleys and towards the canal but no sign of him

"Oh god what if somethings happened?" She asked her breathing quickening

"Hey hey. Sshhh. He'll be fine. He's just hanging out with his mates" I comforted her rubbing her back. I managed to convince rose to go back and wait for him so I walked her to pollys where my brothers were except finn

"Found him?" John asked

"Yes infact He's standing right here with his new invisibility cloak" Rose said annoyed sitting down on the sofa

"Jeez keep ya hair on" he muttered making rose shoot daggers

"Watch it john" she warned. After 20 minutes, finn came back home however this time in tears. Rose ran over and lifted him up. He's 11 Sunday and she still picks him up

"What's wrong honey?" She asked. She pulled away from the hug and looked at his face which lead to her gasping

"Who did this?" She asked

"I don't know. I was walking home and this man grabbed me by the collar and another man punched me" he cried. She hugged him and rubbed his back

"Ssshhh. Its alright" she comforted

"Let's get you some chocolate" ada said taking his hand and leading him into the kitchen

"What you doing?" Polly asked when rose grabbed her peaky cap. She never wore it but kept it on the coat rack

"What's it look like" she snarled before storming out. Me John and Arthur followed, all of us ready for a fight. We saw two men lingering near the alley outside the house

"Hey. Was it you that beat up my brother?" She yelled to the men storming closer

"Ye. A little message that was Thomas shelby. Tell him not to mess with us again" the man yelled. Me and my brothers stepped out of the shadows caps on heads. The men shook when they saw us

"M..Mr shelby. You're here" he said with a quivering voice

"Indeed I am" I replied. The men tried to run but rose grabbed them and put a knife to their necks. Me and my brothers came over and we blinded them, beat them and when they were asking for death, we shot them in the knees and let them bleed out

Rose pov

I stormed back to the house. Anger pulsed through my veins. I knew it. I knew Tommy's stupid stupid stupid acts would end with finn being Hurt. I walked into the kitchen where finn was sat with ice

"I'm sorry finny" I told him kissing his head

"Not your fault" he said

"No you're right. It's tommys" I muttered under my breath. Luckily he didn't hear me. My brothers walked in and I immediately punched Tommy in the face making him stumble back

"Cool" finn said as polly yelled for me to stop

"What the fuck?" He asked

"You stupid man. I warned you that this business will end with people getting hurt. But you promised it wouldn't be us. And you were so wrong. Finn has clearly been hurt because you can't keep your promises" I yelled at him. I didn't even want to be around him

"Just leave" I told him

"No" he said

"Leave" I screamed smacking him repeatedly. Eventually he left as did my brothers. I collapsed against the door and pulled my knees to my chest. My hands covered my face as big tears escaped my eyes. I sobbed and sniffed trying to hold the tears but to no avail

"Rosie" I head Finns voice say. I wiped my tears and looked up at him

"Hey buddy. How's the eye?" I asked him

"Doesn't even hurt" he said bravely making me smile. I opened my arms and he sat on my knee. I wrapped my arms around him and stroked his hair back

"You're so brave" i told him

"So are you" he said

"Ha. Thanks but I don't think I've done anything brave" i admitted. He looked up at me

"You're brave everyday. You look after me. And you aren't scared of our brothers. You even punched Tommy. I think that's pretty brave" he said making me laugh

"I love you" I said

"I love you too" I hugged him tighter and we stayed on the floor for a little bit

"Are you gonna forgive Tommy?" He asked

"Are you?" He thought about it

"No. He made you sad" he said

"No baby he didn't. He made me angry and then I made myself sad. How about we both forgive Tommy if we agree that it wasn't entirely his fault" I suggested

"As long as you aren't sad anymore"

"How can I he sad when I have such a great little brother?" I said kissing his cheek. He wiped it off

"Did you just wipe my kiss?" I asked

"No" he lied smirking.

"I think you did" I said. I kissed his face repeatedly and he squealed with laughter. Maybe it wasn't all Tommy's fault. Maybe just maybe, I could forgive him
