The brand new Shin Maw Tribe was incredibly enthusiastic upon winning the first challenge of the season, and this showed as they walked towards their new island.

They were met with the typical Survivor tribe flag: a tribe-colored banner with the season's logo in the center, and "SHIN MAW" in large black letters at the bottom. Right below the flag, lying on the sand, was a pot, two machetes, ten water canteens (one for each member of the tribe), and most importantly: the flint they won at the reward challenge.

"Oh, would you look at that!" Liam pointed out, as the tribe approached their new home.

"Our flag! We're home!" Kalyani exclaimed enthusiastically.

Liam (Shin Maw Tribe): Seeing the flag, and the flint, and just... everything, really, felt surreal. We have the most beautiful beach I think I've ever seen to live on, and I think we've got a pot, two machetes, water bottles for everybody, and, of course, the flint. I personally was just really excited to see it all in front of me.

"So what do you guys think we should focus on first?" John asked.

"I think we should probably start working on the shelter, if I'm gonna be honest," Lauren stated. "I'd like to be able to have a spot to sleep as soon as I could, but that's just me."

"Shouldn't we start working on the fire, and practice with the flint?" Brianna asked.

"I don't think so, we can probably...  we can work on the fire later today, probably," Kalyani replied.

Sure enough, Shin Maw started working on the shelter. The motivational boost that came with winning the reward challenge definitely became clear, as the tribe agreed to split itself into groups to complete certain tasks, such as collecting palm fronds, cutting bamboo, and figuring out the design of the shelter.

Lauren (Shin Maw Tribe): I came up with the genius idea to build the shelter facing away from the ocean.  And... a couple people didn't necessarily agree, but it doesn't really matter because I got my way anyways.

"Wait, so we're facing away from the water?" Alex asked.

"Yeah, I think it's better, because it's gonna be so much colder if we wake up to the ocean breeze every morning," Lauren exclaimed.

"Yeah, that makes sense," Alex agreed. "I just thought it would be prettier to wake up to the ocean every morning."

"I mean, you're not wrong, but you could just get out of the shelter in the morning and look at it," Jonah interjected from next to Alex.

"Yeah," Alex agreed.

Lauren (Shin Maw Tribe / continued): In my opinion, I'd rather not freeze to death in the open air every morning. If you need to look at the ocean that badly when you wake up, then get OUT of the shelter and sit down next to it and look at it that way.
