There was a chunk of time that was really just uninteresting, it was sad if anything. It was too much of a blur to remember- or maybe I'm just out of it today. Whatever it is, nothing much happened until I was a little over 15..
[Time skip to about 4 years later...]
Alex was 15 years old today. No today wasn't his birthday but he was 15. Over the few years that he spent on his own he grew a strong resentment towards his parents. One that burned brighter than the stars. He wasn't happy with them in any way, and felt nothing as far as love or care or connection. He wanted to let them know that they damaged him so badly, unfortunately much to his dismay he didn't know how.
He had spent all this time trying to find them, as well as training in his fighting skills. He never killed anyone, he never had the heart, but he did have to learn to fight to at least keep himself safe. He knew what he needed to know, and learned other things when he had free time. The boy actually had a lot less free time than you may think, having to survive without the help of anyone else. Although there was a kind old woman that gave him some advice that helped him along with food occasionally, she was gone. She had passed a few months ago.
Alex didn't get attached, but he still was sad at her disappearance. They didn't know each other for a long time though. He sighed as the thoughts and memories got driven out of his head again, he was busy doing something right now. By now this little boy had turned into a slightly larger teen, he had quite a bit of muscle for his age.
Alex was walking with his few possessions along a road, it skirted along the outer part of a town for a while before going out entirely into the next state. He was walking back into town actually, going to his usual hideout. He was still fairly smart, and he taught himself things he needed to know as far as school. He stole a lot of textbooks from the local high school to help out.
While yes, he wasn't in actual school, he still wanted to feel like he was. He liked learning at least a little bit, but he was sadly losing interest in it. He was still smart enough to do the work on his own without help. He just procrastinated a lot. Now, before the point was digressed from.
The boy finally made it to his hideout he had set up. His belongings he brought with him were set down as he silently cleaned things up. The wind had knocked over a good portion of his things. He wasn't in Colorado anymore, this was Utah. He had been wandering for a long time, it would pay off hopefully.
After cleaning up, he decided today he was going to take a step forward. He had left previously to meet up with someone who knew his mom and dad. They didn't know who Alex was because he had changed so much, but they still gave him the information he needed. His parents didn't have very smart friends, eh?
Apparently they were both in Las Vegas, Nevada. Alex had heard of Vegas a lot as anyone else normally would. He wasn't aware of how the rest of Nevada was though. He couldn't go today, but he could start going towards that direction. Alex had a compass on him and a general idea of where Vegas even was, so that helped.
All he wanted to do was talk. No not 'I just wanna talk' in an evil way, he genuinely wanted to talk to his parents for once. He wanted to know why they had done such cruel things to him- their own son- in the first place. It bugged his mind.
Before he left he had to plan how he was going to get there. He had stolen a good chunk of money beforehand, so he had something to keep him sustained until he got there at least. He decided he would only take what was necessary with him. Weapons, tools, etc. Alex didn't want to set off for his trip today yet, but maybe tomorrow or the day after. It was dark already and he didn't want to leave at night.
He sat on the ground under a highway, sitting up against a wall. Alone. The stars started to become more visible as the quiet roads glistened in the night. It rained earlier. He liked the rain because less people were out, but also because he liked the sound of it. But more than that he liked the smell of rain. It made him a bit happy to see it, one of the few things he found comfort in anymore.
If Alex wasn't an insomniac he would be sleeping by now, the night already pitch black. But he still stayed awake. Alert for any danger, he would look around his surroundings a lot. Finally he was too weak to hold up the weight of consciousness, and he slowly drifted off into sleep.
The dawn approached steadier than usual, the clouds from the night before already cleared. It slowly crept up on the boy, alone and intrepid. Well, as much as he could be. He woke up once the sun hit his eyes, yawning. Today was the day he would finally go out to pursue what he needed. What he craved. It's been driving him so far beyond insanity ever since the day it happened, and he needed a resolution.
He stood up and yawned as he stretched his back, still recovering from the drowsiness of sleep. Alex then gathered up his things and put them inside a duffel bag. He didn't have much, and the majority of his items were weapons. The duffle bag was in all actuality only about half full. The boy set off towards a nearby gas station to get some things to keep himself going along the way, snacks, drinks, etc.
Alex set off for Las Vegas after his stop. He knew he would need to stop quite a lot on his way so he prepared for when he did anyways. He started walking west, along a highway that went straight to Nevada. He had no idea what he was gonna get himself into, but hoped for the best. He didn't expect the best at all but he still prayed. Well, prayed to a god he didn't believe in. He was brought up a Christian but he was secretly an atheist.
Little did the boy know that this decision he just made would change his life completely.
