She scared me. Really scared me, I was scared to be seen. I should've ran away, should've ran away. It would have been better if I hid myself from her like I wanted to. But no,  I stayed/. I kept coming back time and time again, and I never knew why I did. It was a bad decision, that's for sure.

The girl's voice was the most terrifying thing Alex had heard that day. He was frozen, unable to respond. Why was she here now? How did she find him? How would she react to him-- looking like this? He didn't want to think about it, he wished she hadn't seen him in such a disgraceful state. She seemed to be concerned just as he anticipated too. "What happened to you?" She asked with worry. Alex stared at her with wide eyes, unable to speak from the shock of being found. She was the only person he trusted. And now he's blown it for himself. Great. She reached over to him, gently lifting one of his hands. They were scuffed and bloodied, her horror was the most disturbing thing this boy has seen all day.

"Did you get in a fight? Are you ok??" She asked with more and more concern, she didn't seem to be scared of Alex but rather scared for him. This was a lot more than surprising to be honest. "C'mon-- let's go home so I can get you fixed up." And with that she basically dragged the boy off the bench. It seemed to take a lot of effort to do so, but she still did it. The two of them started to walk out of the empty park, Alex following behind her loyally like a dog. Truth was that he was scared to lose her from his sight, he didn't want to lose her because of someone else. Eventually they both had made it home, the walk was long and excruciating, Sarah's questions flooding the air. She was worried and it showed.

By the time they had reached the door to the house the sun was already starting to set, the crimson sky turning to a dark magenta slowly but surely. Sarah led him inside and told him to sit, which he did, and disappeared. Shortly after she walked back into the living room with a few things; bandaging, disinfectant, etc. She stood in front of him, patching him up. Her hands were gentle and soft, and as she wrapped up the minor wounds on Alex's he noticed something. Something that he probably would remember for a while, it's one of those little things that for some reason don't go away.

Her hands didn't fit in his at all.

Maybe it was because of the way her hands were in his, or maybe that was just him being awkward. But this seemingly perfect girl didn't fit holding his hand. It slightly bothered him, but he didn't care too much about it. He was just silent, watching as the bandaging was wrapped carefully around his palms. He had gotten more beat up in that fight than he thought. She had finished in no time as the boy swam in his own thoughts, deep in some sort of zone. She returned the unused supplies while he spaced out, staring at the floor. And before he knew it, he felt the couch next to him shift. She was sitting next to him.

"Are you ok? I know I keep asking but you don't answer me.." She said, her voice trailing off. She looked dead serious, answer her Alex. "I-I'm fine." He said, the stutter he carried with him for years returning for a brief moment. "Are you sure? That kind of stuff can be traumatizing-" She said, but her sentence was cut off. He couldn't keep it in anymore, he just needed a break. He had wrapped his arms around the other, keeping her close. He didn't cry, nor did he do anything to show that he was upset. He just kept it inside for now. This was all he was going to do. This is the only thing he needed right now.

She had moved her arms up to his back, lightly and gently rubbing it. She sighed and leaned into his warm embrace. Her exhale was soft and short, gentle too. She was an extremely gentle person, it was a perfect contrast to how rough  the boy was. "I was worried for you, Alex." She spoke quietly and comfortingly, she seemed to be upset as well and the hug was definitely calming her down as well. Hearing her say his name sent him to heaven, he adored it. He usually hated being called by anyone, let alone anyone saying his name, but hearing Sarah say it in that soft voice like she did, that was invigorating. The serotonin rushing through his veins and pumping with each heartbeat from that single word, that simple little name, it gave him life.

"I was too." He said shortly in response to the girl. His stomach was doing flips from so many emotions and thoughts going through his mind and his system. He let go of the other after a comfortable amount of time, looking shyly away. He didn't realize it but he had grown red in the face. Sarah leaned back into the couch casually, by the looks of things hugs weren't a new thing for her. "Hey, Alex, why do you like hugging me and cuddling so much? I know I've only known you for a day or two-- but still." She asked. Go figure. The boy didn't entirely know how to answer, he never even asked himself that question.

"Uhm- not sure.. Guess I just like it that much." He answered. Still giving those short answers I see. He did indeed like the affection, but he never thought he would crave it so desperately. He was so  starved of love, starved of touch, he had grown accustomed to it. He turned it down so much he had forgotten how good it actually felt.  "Well you must like it a lot. Last night I had to pry your arms off me y'know!" She said in a joking manner. It was nice to see that she was in a better mood like this. Alex would've smiled right now, if it weren't for all the years of being unable to that took a toll on his face, his muscles and everything.

The girl turned on the TV, switching through channels. The flickering scenes and colors went by in a flash, racing from one channel to the next. "Is there really nothing good on?" Sarah had said aloud, still flipping through channels. She had passed so many and went back to them,  going past them once again. Until she got to a specific channel. She stopped and watched what was displayed on the screen, uncensored and all. The sight of it made Alex's heart drop, because of one detail that he knew and only he knew. That detail in question was..
