...
She had stayed another night at his place, which made Alex a bit suspicious of things. She brought over a few of her things, enough for the night. "Why are you spending the night here so often? Did you get kicked out or something?" He asked. He genuinely wanted to know what was up. "Yeah, my landlord saw that I was smoking pot in my room and kicked me out, it was the only time I did it too. Kinda unlucky if you ask me." She explained, pretty nonchalant about everything. He sighed, whatever. If she needs a place to stay, she can stay here. She's already making herself at home anyway.
He grabbed a shower, getting into some more comfortable clothes and going to bed. He just wanted to rest tonight, he didn't want Elaine to try anything again. Yet, she still tried. She just didn't succeed this time. She had climbed into bed alongside him, running her fingers through his hair and just talking to him. "Hey big guy, I ever tell you how sexy you are?" "Not now Elaine." "Aww, what's the matter? Have a rough day?" "I just don't wanna do that anymore. Once was enough, and even then I didn't wanna do that." She went silent, letting out a quiet 'hmph'. She continued to play with his hair, humming something to herself as she did.
"I like how soft your hair is, it's really fluffy too." She said. "Yes, I know. It's been like that my whole life." He mumbled in response. Honestly, he wasn't exactly comfortable here. He still didn't quite trust Elaine, and only led her to believe he cared because he felt bad for her. She ran her hands along his body until they had met his waist, the girl pulling him closer. To her, this was a dream come true. To Alex, this felt like a job. He just had to suck it up and do it until he can get out of it without any issues, which, is not a healthy way to look at a relationship nor is it a healthy way to be in one. He fell asleep that night next to her, a soulmate who isn't meant to be in his life. Though her playing with his hair and cuddling him close was at least a tad bit soothing. Maybe he does indeed feel something towards her, but that's most likely him lying to himself to try and make things feel better.
That night was pretty much filled with her chatter for a while, however it was all drowned out once Alex actually started to fall asleep.
The next morning, the ma woke up alone in silence. Did she actually just leave him alone for once? He turned and looked over at his clock--
12:33.
Shit! She went to work and he slept in, so now he's late for work. Why didn't she at least wake him up?! The man groaned, sitting up and rubbing his face in exhaustion. He stood up and got dressed, cleaning himself up as quickly as possible before hurrying out the door. He was supposed to be at work hours ago. He rushed out of the door, stealing someone's motorcycle outside the apartments and driving off. At least he got lucky with that today, let's just hope nobody catches him.
Everything seemed to work out in the moment, until a pair of flashing red and blue lights started to follow him. The wail of the sirens accompanying the lights. Great. He pulled over, the police behind him pulling over as well. A door opened, then another. Two men walked out of the car and approached Alex, one looked intimidated. The other looked like he was about to shit his pants. "Sir, would you like to explain why--" The cop didn't even have a chance to speak before he was met with the barrel of a revolver, his head soon being spread on the ground behind him. The other cowered, shakily going for his radio. He was interrupted by the same fate though, going limp and collapsing on the ground in a matter of seconds. Alex didn't have time to deal with police today, he's late for work. He sped off, the cycle almost spiraling out of control and hitting a building next to the bar when he went to slow down. He was safe though.
He walked inside hurriedly, clocking in for work. Elaine was at the counter of the bar, lazily doing her job. She always did a shitty half assed job no matter what. The man got behind the counter and immediately got to work, seeing Charlie across the bar. Glaring at him with a disappointed and disgusted look, shaking his head. Though, this didn't really make Alex feel like shit for being late, he's already killed two people so things can't get much worse right now. At some point though, Elaine had noticed the blood on his pants from when he killed the men. Whoops. "Hey, what's all this about?" She asked, going to inspect the spot. She couldn't however, because Alex had moved his leg away as quickly as possible. "Don't-- touch." He said, behind gritted teeth and growing anxiety. "Well, what's the spot about?" She asked, crossing her arms. "Nothing." He responded as he continued to work his shift. Hastily.
"Nothing? What is it then?" She pestered, the man rolling his eyes and groaning. He didn't answer, and just kept at his job. He needs to make up for the hours he lost earlier. "Thanks for waking me up." He said in a bitter and angered tone, though he had been hushed to avoid making a scene. "I didn't think you'd come to work today! I wanted you to get some decent sleep--" "And make me late for work? I still have rent to pay y'know, I can't be late to work every fucking day." He growled, his annoyance with the day turning into a searing rage flowing through every vein, nerve, and muscle in his body. He tried to bottle it up though. At least until he got home, that is. But judging by how Elaine acts, and how persistent she is, he probably won't be able to keep it all inside until then.
"Look, I wanted what was best for your health. I was gonna cover your shift today too, Al." She explained. So she thinks he can't do his job now? She thinks he's too weak and sad to come to work?! "Do you think I'm a fucking baby? I'm a grown ass man and I can do my god damn job, and I don't fucking care if you think my health is more important, if I don't get paid then I don't have a place to live. I won't have food, and I sure as hell won't have a damn bed for you to harass me in! So why don't you keep your little nose out of my god damn business and let me live my own fucking life, yeah?" He snapped, his voice almost at a yell now. Everyone in the bar had went quiet, gawking at the man. He caught his breath, returning to normal. He ran a hand through his hair-- a stress response-- and glared down at Elaine. "You are not my mom."
He leaned down, getting in her face and growling this last sentence to her.
"Or else you'd be dead."
