!! WARNING: DISTURBING IMAGERY, GORE !!

The smell was so strong even the gas mask couldn't make it bearable, the man almost puked from it. And he has a strong stomach. He didn't realize it yet, but he was about to see one of the most traumatic things of his life. He flicked a light switch on, peering warily into the stairway. It was dimly lit, the lights and such being old and a few of them even flickering. Carefully he tread down the rotten stairs, the wood creaking under his weight. He saw that the room itself was pitch black, but there were sounds heard. Flies. And a groan of some sort, a pained and weak one, very faint as well.

His heart was beating out of his chest, he was having more than second thoughts right now as he slowly crept back to the stairs.. to turn on the light to the room. He switched it on, the fact that it's nighttime not helping the aura of everything whatsoever by the way, but he turned on the light to see one of the most horrendous and disgusting sights he's seen in is life. Even he hasn't caused anything like this. About a dozen or more people were in this large room, at least whole people. Bits and pieces of dismembered bodies were either set in some contraption, on a table, hanging up by a hook, people being hung up on the walls and ceiling by chains and hooks.

Most of the people in here were dead, however a small percentage of them were still alive. One being locked up in a cage, the other being chained to a post, laying on the ground and weak from malnutrition and dehydration. The last was still on the verge of death, his lower half completely unattached and his guts spilled on the ground. That man looked at Alex, pleading with his eyes for him to just end his pain. Now Alex usually didn't feel bad for those who fell victim to this kind of stuff, but oh my god he felt awful for what these people have endured.

He whispered the word sorry to the man, and continued through the place to examine everything. Too late not to do it now, he was already in here after all. Upon closer inspection, the person who had been tied to a post had their mouth sewn completely shut. The one in the cage couldn't move their hands from the bars, and some of the others were drilled into, impaled, everything terrible a 16 year old girl could perform on a person. He was so close to throwing up from it all, and eventually he just couldn't handle it anymore and ran out. "You're all avenged now. Stay safe." He said quickly as he rushed out. He threw the gas mask down with him and held his breath, dropping a lit match in the basement as he left.

He rushed into the kitchen and turned on the oven, leaving the place as soon as he possibly could. He got into the car he stole and backed out of the driveway, watching the house from a good distance away. He watched as the whole house caught fire, almost in an explosion. Now the basement never has to be seen again, he was the last person to ever see it. He didn't know it, but if Sarah had stayed around with him longer then he would've gone to the basement as well, same with Tanya. Tanya may or may not have been there before but was brought out later on, it would explain how she was so thin. She was lanky sure, but for her height she shouldn't be as light as she was.

But now it was time for Alex to make his escape before someone caught him committing arson, so he drove off in the car until he found a nice forest to stop at. He just wanted a bit more peace for now, and also he was getting rather tired since it was sort of late at night. If he had waited an extra day or so he could've slept in the bed tonight and set fire to the house tomorrow morning, but he was too upset for that anyway. He was in the mood to finally burn that bridge, except he burned it with gunpowder and gas cans.

He parked the car at a clearing in the forest, he assumed this was a ark of some sort because the clearing has a road that leads into and out of it. He got out of the car and climbed up onto the hood, laying back with one leg over the other and his back against the glass of the windshield. He watched the stars in the night sky start to multiply like they do every night, just here by himself with his thoughts. He couldn't shake that feeling he got when he explored the basement, expecting that it would keep him up tonight. Which it did, it kept him up the whole day afterwards as well.

But we aren't at the next day yet, we're still here right now. Alex is at least. Right now was a good time to overthink or relax, but knowing Alex we know which one of the two he's gonna do. That's right, you guessed it, he's gonna spend the whole night overthinking. Overthinking about what you may ask? Everything! His childhood and his parents, his regrets and his decisions, Sarah and Tanya, Sarah and Tanya's deaths, the basement, everything! He was starting to care again unlike how he's been for the past few weeks or so, which is either a good thing or a bad thing, we'll just have to find out later on now won't we?

The chirping of the night crickets and the occasional gunshots in the background were not a very good melody to try and think to, the gunshots always caught the man off guard and gave him a bit of a spook while the crickets were just plain annoying after awhile. But there was a window of time around 2 or 3 in the morning where things were quiet, in fact Alex was very close to falling asleep a few times. However his mind started to play tricks on him to keep him up every time he strayed close to dozing off. He would see something or hear something, always something memory related that would tie a knot in his stomach. Anxiety inducing things. Most of which had to do with Sarah or his parents, but who's even surprised at this point.

I know I'm not.
