A/N: It took me so long but I picked out a dress that I thought Cassie would wear and Rebekah would love

"No, that one washes you out." Cassie huffed, "Rebekah this is the 11th dress I've tried on, there's only one more left in my size!" Kol shifted in his seat, "I have to agree with my sister, the yellow washes you out." Cassie shot him a glare, "And who the hell invited you?" Kol smirked, "I invited myself darling." She couldn't help but roll her eyes. The Mikaelson ball was tonight and as much as she loved dressing up, she hated the shopping part. Especially when two of the pickiest people she knew were here being her judges. Cassie picked up the red satin dress and went back into the fitting room for the 12th time. They had been here for hours, Rebekah couldn't decide on a dress but has eventually settled for a beautiful green one. The only problem was Cassie trying to find one with Kol and Rebekah's stamp of approval.

After several minutes of struggling Cassie was finally able to get the dress on. She didn't even look in the mirror, she didn't want to get her hopes up before she faced the judges. Cassie walked out of the dressing room and did a little twirl for the two. Rebekah's mouth was open just slightly, her eyes were wide, "Darling you look absolutely stunning." Kol leaned in, "I'll say." Cassie blushed, "You think so?" Rebekah stood up and giggled, "Oh I know so." Rebekah lead Cassie over to the mirror, she couldn't believe it. The dress fit perfectly, hugged her in all the right places, it was extravagant but not flashy and complimented her skin perfectly. She turned to Rebekah and Kol, "I'll take it."

They arrived at the Mikaelson mansion a few hours later, workers were busy getting the place ready for tonight. Cassie went up the stairs to her and Elijah's room. Her dress laid in a black bag hung up on the closet door, she smiled and went into the bathroom, grabbing her beauty products she went back into the bedroom and sat down at her vanity. "You look gorgeous mi amor." Elijah stood in the door frame, admiring Cassie, "I haven't even begun to get ready, quit trying to suck up." Elijah chuckled, making his way into the room, he shut the door behind him and went over to Cassie. He stood behind her, rubbing her shoulders. Cassie leaned into his touch, groaning just slightly. She stood up and turned around, she wrapped her arms around his neck and played with the short hairs on the back of his head, Cassie smiled, she bit her lip to try and stop it.

Elijah smiled back and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, "Now why are you trying so hard to hide that beautiful smile?" Cassie shrugged, looking down, "I don't know it just, feels weird, there's nothing for me to be so happy about and yet here I am and I can't stop smiling." She looked back up at Elijah, he sat there, look at her, just admiring her. "You are absolutely perfect Cassie May. I want you to know that." She didn't hesitate to pull him into a kiss, she gripped on tighter and hoisted herself up and wrapped her legs around his waist. Cassie held onto him for dear life, wanting this moment to last forever. The door opened and in walked Finn, "I apologize." He closed it as soon as he opened it, Cassie giggled, looking up at Elijah. "You need to leave. I have to get ready." Elijah groaned, "I can't just stay in here?" She shook her head, getting down and pushing him out of the room.

After 2 long hours, multiple interruptions, and a few stops for champagne. Cassie was finally ready. There was a small knock on the door, "Come in." Cassie adjusted her hair in the mirror one last time, fixing a loose curl. Rebekah walked in, her jaw dropped, "You look absolutely stunning. Nik and Elijah are some lucky men." Cassie stopped, she turned her head, "What do you mean Nik and Elijah?" Rebekah stopped, adverting gaze, "Don't think I don't know about your almost kiss the night of the full moon. Didn't take him long to spill his guts." Cassie swallowed a lump in her throat, "Are you going to tell Elijah?" She scoffed, "Of course not, listen Cass, a word of advice, something that you would always tell me. Go for what you want, even if it scares you. You have no right to hold yourself back from the things you desire." Cassie held up her dress, walking towards the door, "If you're implying that I'm in love with Nik I'm afraid that's a no, he stabbed me in the heart and stuck me in a box for months. I get that's nothing compared to what he's done to the rest of you but still, it isn't right." Rebekah pulled Cassie in for a hug, "From someone who was in a coffin for 90 years take it from me, it's a sign of love. Just ask him about it, he may have had a good reason for it."

"Thank you." Rebekah pulled away, "Of course darling, now, the party has started and we need to show off how extravagant we look." Cassie giggled as Rebekah lead her to the stair way. She could hear chatter down stairs and some classical music playing. "The first dance is about to start, Matt and Elijah should be down there waiting for us." Rebekah began walking down the stairs, Cassie peeked a little bit farther. Matt was waiting at the bottom of the stairs, he held his hand out and swept her towards the dance floor. She took a deep breathe before making her way down the stairs, she looked around but Elijah was no where to be found, Cassie felt a blush form across her face as she realized she didn't have a dance partner. She made her way down the staircase, it was embarrassing as all hell until she saw Klaus standing at the bottom of the stairs, he held his hand out as she hit the bottom step. Cassie simply rolled her eyes, taking his hand into hers.

"Where is Elijah?" Klaus smirked, "He had some matters of his own to take care of, don't worry love, I'll make sure I don't step on your nice new shoes." Cassie shot him a glare, out of all people she could have been paired with. At this point she'd have rather danced with a rock, she'd look just as crazy either way. They made their way to the dance floor, all the girls lining up on one side, and all of the gentlemen on the other. The music started, they began their introductions. Cassie looked down most of the time, not really wanting to make eye contact with anyone, Klaus however, couldn't keep his eyes off of her. When they finally joined to begin the dancing portion, a smile crept onto Cassie's face. "What could you possibly be smiling about?" Klaus looked down at her, admiring the look on her face, "Nothing just, déjà vu." Klaus smiled, "Ah yes, the 1940s. Such a riveting time period. You on a ripper binge, and me, the poor sap stuck taking care of you." They both chuckled, "I hate you." She looked up at him, he narrowed his eyes, "I hate you more." The two began laughing again, a note hit in the song and it was time to switch partners.

Klaus spun Cassie to the left, keeping his grip on her hand for as long as he possibly could. It wasn't much, but it was enough for Elijah, who had just entered the room, to notice. Cassie stopped in front of her next partner, Stefan. "It seems to be the night to dance with backstabbers, what do you think?" Stefan pulled her in, being careful to keep his hand high up on her waist, "Seems about right." She smiled at that, "I'm still livid about what you did, but I can't stay mad for long. You're still my nephew and I understand... I would have done the same." Stefan gave her a small nod, "I never meant to hurt you Aunt Cass, truly." She patted his shoulder, "Don't let it bother you, everything's alright." The music hit another beat and they switched partners yet again. Cassie looked up, with Caroline looking back at her.

"I think you might've gotten switched up doll face." Caroline furrowed her brows, looking back to where she once was, "Yeah I think so." Caroline curtsied, she giggled and started to blush, "God I feel like an idiot, I mean, I've done this dance a hundred times and yet here I am." Cassie giggled, she grabbed Caroline's hand and pulled her in, "Two men over there think we're dating, pretty sure I heard one of them gag." Caroline was hesitant, but wrapped her arm around Cassie and began to sway to the music, "Well they can go screw themselves." Cassie giggled, "I like you Caroline, you're fearless and unapologetic. Both of those are very admiring qualities." Caroline smiled, "Why thank you, most of the time I feel like an uptight control freak so it means a lot." Cassie looked her in the eye, "Darling if you fear what others think, you will never be free. Let them think what they want, the people's opinions don't matter." Caroline nodded, soaking in all the words she had to offer.

The music stopped and the dance floor slowly cleared, letting anyone in who fancied a dance, Cassie took a step back and gave Caroline, "Thank you Miss.Forbes, for the dance, the conversation, and the pleasure of scaring off old men." She giggled and walked away. Klaus stood not far from the dance floor, watching her every move, Cassie walked up to him, "Is there a reason you're staring? Or am I just that good looking?" Klaus smiled, looking down, "Just that good looking, I couldn't help but notice you and Caroline Forbes becoming best friends. Or something more?" Cassie smiled, "Caroline is just a friend, nothing more. You'd like that wouldn't you though?" Klaus shrugged, "A wise man never reveals his secrets. Say, you were talking about déjà vu earlier and I can't help but think about the past. Feel like reliving some old memories?" Cassie raised an eyebrow, "And what might that be?"

"Drink till you drop." Cassie laughed, "My god we haven't played that in ages. Last time we played I'm pretty sure you tried to throw Elijah through a window." Klaus sighed, "Good times, what do you say? You, me, Elijah, Kol, Finn and Rebekah? Like old times?" Cassie bit her lip, "Alright, I'm down."
