The sun was beaming down on them, their hands were covered in dirt, all tired from their efforts. "To think we're going through all this effort just for this narcissistic bitch." Elijah chuckled and set his shovel down for a moment, "Not that I'm disagreeing but our mother is going to be the key to us defeating Dahlia. Let us show some respect."

"You're right, my apologies... I can't believe we're going through all this effort to bring back a helpful, narcissistic bitch." Snickers filled the air as they continued digging, waiting patiently for their shovels to hit something that was a sign of Esther.

A hard thud sounded throughout the warm summers air, Cassie's eyes widened as she looked down at her shovel, the tip refusing to go any farther. "There she is..." She got down onto her knees and reached a hand into the grave.

Carefully, she began brushing remains of dirt, revealing the engraved Mikaelson logo. Cassie sighed before it all went black, the world around her fading away as her finger stayed locked on the coffin.

Instead of the field they were once in, she was in a place, one almost unrecognizable. Cassie had to blink a few times before it clicked with her where she was, a chill running down her spine as she did. The wide windows filled with light, the dark washed wooden floors, vast empty spaces. It was Marcel's apartment.

"Hello?" Cassie began to frantically looked around, for an escape from this dreaded vision. Her breathe became shallow, a seemingly permanent lump residing in her throat. As she took a step towards the door, she lost her footing, leaving her smack down on the ground.

A groan escaped her lips at the harsh impact, her hands shakily reaching to push herself up. Cassie looked down at the floor and that's when she saw what got her into this situation in the first place. Her feet, her legs, and as her eyes traveled up even farther her arms. All covered in the sticky crimson substance.

Though her thoughts were filled with horror, Cassie could feel it. Her vampire visage coming to ahead, the deep veins forming beneath her eyes, her vision becoming clouded. "W-what are you?" The voice was so small, so timid and full of fear.

She almost didn't look up, in fear of what she might see, who she might see. Without much thought Cassie picked her head up and saw it, the little girl she'd been dreaming of for what felt like centuries, before she'd even come into existence.

Briar. She was older, couldn't be older than seven or eight. Like this she reminded Cassie of Natalia, though it wasn't her. Briar's hair was darker, her features much like her mother's. She wanted nothing more than to be happy, than to be joyous at the sight of her daughter all grown up.

Yet the look of fear on the little girl's face sucked any lightness of this moment. Her eyes were blown wide, her bottom lip trembling so badly Cassie thought it'd never stop. Briar's arms were wrapped tightly around something, with the clouded vision it was hard to see.

Cassie had to blink a few more times to see it, a stuffed bear, the pink ribbon around it's neck was worn and frayed. "W-what have you done with my m-mom..?" She stuttered trying to find the right words, "I-it's me honey... it's me..." Cassie reached a bloody hand out but that only seemed to have made matters worsen.

Briar let out a small shriek, "Griffin!" Rapid footsteps came from the stairwell, Cassie violently shook her head, not wanting anyone else to see what she had become. Within seconds a little boy came running into the room, his features being oh so prominent as well.

Though he was a few minutes older, he was just a tad bit shorter than Briar. "What have you done to our mom?" Cassie let out a sob, trying to contain what little composure she had left. "I'm your mother I promise..." She pulled herself closer to them, dragging her body towards them.
