A/N: PLEASE READ! So looking back I decided I hated how these chapters were written, I feel like my old writing just didn't convey the emotions I wanted it to, so as of right now chapters 39-41 are being rewritten with my new writing skills and new format (I wrote these in like mid-late may) enjoy my lovelies

"Every time I close my eyes, it's like a dark paradise." She turned her head and looked down at the radio, raising a brow at the lyrics that resonated deep inside of her.

"No one compares to you, I'm scared that you, won't be waiting on the other side." Cassie rolled her eyes and shut the radio off, "Thank you universe... means a lot."

She sighed as the car was now silent, the only sound being the wind against her car, winding down the back roads leading to Mystic Falls.

Cassie reached into her purse, keeping her eyes on the road in front of her. Once she pulled out her phone she pressed a few buttons before it began to ring.

After a few seconds they picked up, "Cassie hi! How are you?" The sound of Caroline's bubbly voice filled her ears, effectively bringing a smile to her face. "Hello to you too Care."

"How is New Orleans? How's Avery? You know I heard the weather there is terrible this time of year." She couldn't help but giggle, "New Orleans is... complicated, Avery is fine as well as the weather... I have to ask, where are you?"

"I'm at the grille with Bonnie and Elena, say hi guys!" Though it was muffled, she heard the faintest sounds of them saying hi, "We miss you so much! Things aren't the same without our crazy Cassie."

"I'll choose to take that as a compliment but miss me no longer, I'm only about an hour out from the boarding house."

She could practically hear their jaws dropping from the other line, along with quick scraps of chairs being pushed in. "No way! Oh my gosh, ok, we'll be right there along with Stefan and Damon!"

Cassie smiled, "Good! I've got some important news that needs to be shared." Caroline gasped, "What kind of news? Don't tell me you got back together with Elijah because if so-..."

"No! No... Elijah and I are not back together, it's something much more important, alright? Just make sure you're all there by the time I am."

"You're killing me! Fine, until then drive safe!" She hung up with that and put her hand back on the steering wheel, a smile gracing her face, one she'd missed.

The car came to a stop in the gravel driveway of the Salvatore boarding house, though it'd been months, not a thing had changed. The house was still the same as she'd left it, at least on the outside.

Cassie stepped out of the car and pulled her trench coat over her body, trying her best to hide the eye sore of a bump. As her eyes looked downward she realized that in the rush of trying to leave the compound, she'd taken Elijah's jacket.

Cassie shrugged it off before walking up the driveway, the smile that she thought was now permanent spread across her face.

She didn't bother knocking, pushing open the giant wooden door. Cassie was soon greeted with smiling faces, and a small banner held by Bonnie, Elena, and Caroline.

"Welcome home!" They all shouted and she had to press her lips together to suppress the tears of happiness, "You did not have to do this..."

"Yes we did!" Caroline ran up to her with vampire speed, but stopped just short of her body. She looked down, from this angle, she couldn't now admire the way her belly stuck out from her body.

Caroline looked back up at Cassie was a slack jaw and wide eyes, "No..." She nodded, "Yes..."

Cassie let the front part of the coat go as Caroline stepped aside, letting everyone see what she'd been seeing. "Surprise!"
