A/N: Cassie's outfit for this chapter cause why not!
TW: Gore, Blood, Dead BodiesIn and out. Something as simple as breathing felt like such hard work. It took every ounce of strength to pull air into her lungs, and back out. Her body was cold, the pool of blood surrounding her had gone cold months ago. Four months. That's how long Cassandra May Salvatore had been lying on the floor of the farm house. She didn't care though, because the moment she awoke a vampire she turned it all off. Centuries ago the idea of turning her humanity off was lost, it was nothing but a dream. A hope she had long forgotten. Yet, when it came down to it, the pain she felt was so profound, it pulled her towards that little switch in the back of her brain. Hayley, Avery, her children, and even Jenny. All gone. She had lost everything that mattered to her. In her thousand years of living she had never been so broken, so betrayed. All the pain she'd ever felt paled to the feeling in her heart. But once that switch was turned it all faded. She didn't care, she didn't feel sad, or angry, she wasn't scared either. It was the first time she felt bliss while still being awake.
Cassie couldn't even blink, she just sat there, staring up into the ceiling. Thinking and wondering, her brain going at a million miles per hour and yet she had zero energy to express that though her body. Her skin had gone cold after the first week, it began to turn grey after a month. These past three months she just sat there, thinking and planning. "Ronnie I am not going into that house!" The perky voice came from far away, "Come on baby! It's abandoned, no ones in there!" The girl huffed, "Why couldn't we just do it in the car like normal people?" The kid laughed, "Because this is way more fun." The door creaked open, Cassie quickly closed her eyes. "Holy sh-... what the hell? Wh-what do we do?" The girl screamed at the sight, Cassie looked straight out of a horror movie and Avery was a dead body that had been rotting in the New Orleans heat for four months.
His skin was blue and grey, almost completely sunken in. The smell was the worst, it was so overwhelming it brought tears to the eyes of those who smelt it. The boy came up and knelt down next to Cassie, "Ronnie are you insane? We need to call the police! There are two dead bodies! Don't you dare touch it." He peered over her lifeless frame, "She's dead it ain't like she's gonna do anything." She won't do anything, it was those words that seemed to light a spark under her ass. Fight. You fight for the things you love, that's what Elijah had told her. She had a chance to fight. Her children were somewhere out there, she needed them. She wanted Jenny to feel her wrath, Cassie shot her eyes open and stared up at the boy. Before he could move she gripped his wrist, it took every little bit of her to keep him grounded. Her lips parted ever so slightly, a groan escaping them. Cassie drug his hand over to her face, her strength caused his arm to go limp. As her nails dug into his wrist it was just enough to draw blood. That's when the smallest drop of the liquid fell, hitting her lips. Bringing her dry tongue out she licked the drop of blood into her mouth. That feeling, warm fresh blood, something she had not tasted in decades, it gave her the strength she needed. Cassie grabbed the kids face, and brought his neck to her mouth.
Her fangs sunk into the juncture of his neck, his screams were slowly muffled as she drained the blood, the life, from his body. Cassie clawed at him as his body went limp above her. With vampire speed she flipped them over so she was straddling his torso, digging her hands deep into his shoulders. After several long moments there was nothing left, her efforts ended in less and less drops. Cassie sat up and wiped her mouth, when she looked around she saw the front door swung wide open. Cassie stood up and made her way to the front porch, the girl hadn't made it far. She snorted at her efforts, within a second she was caught up with the girl, she stood in front of her, "Did I say I was done with you?" The girl screamed as Cassie devoured her, sucking on the veins in her neck. Once again she didn't stop until her attempts went dry. The girl dropped to the cement, Cassie sighed, she stretched out her back and groaned. "I need new clothes."
