The following evening, when Inara couldn't bring herself to fall asleep for hours she glanced at the clock that was on her night stand "1:38..." she whispered, she doesn't know why she couldn't fall asleep
Maybe it was the new environment, maybe it was the fact that she's sleeping in a room her own grandmother used to sleep in and everything reminds her of Eveniny or maybe because a specific bird was stuck in her head, a Peregrine
It was all strange for her having that bird stuck in her mind. Something about that Peregrine was oddly familiar, it kinda reminded her of the Headmistress. Perhaps it was the fact that her surname was Peregrine
Her mind keeps spiralling with questions that she can't answer and just keeps on pondering. The letter that was poking out of her skirt's pocket, hanged on the door's hook wasn't helping at all. She wanted to know what's written in it, but she wasn't ready to read it just yet
Inara continued to stare at nothing, watching every second tick by until she decided to get up. She opened the closet and grabbed a white, floral shawl that belonged to her grandmother

She quietly opened the door and peeked her head checking if there was anyone outside and of course, there was no one because who would be awake at one o'clock in the morning. She carefully closed the door behind her and took one step at a time
The door to the kid's room was slightly opened, Inara's motherly instinct kicked within her checking if the children were alright. She smiled when she saw everyone was sleeping peacefully. Enoch, Olive and Emma had their own rooms which made sense since they're more older than the rest of them
After heading downstairs to the kitchen to make some tea to hopefully make her fall asleep later. She stepped outside and shivered when the cold air hit her body. Inara sat on the stairs and stared at the endless sky of stars
A few minutes flew by, of enjoying the night sky and the taste of her tea she was startled by a familiar voice behind her "What are you doing out there in this hour?" Inara knows that Alma means no harm, but she always pops out in the most unusual times
"I couldn't sleep..." she could hear Alma getting closer with each step she made
"Was the bed uncomfortable?" Inara chuckled when hearing Alma's question
"No, the bed is wonderful enough as it is. At least, it doesn't have any springs on it. Otherwise, it would've made a noise every time I get on and off of it"
"Hmm, then why can't you sleep?"
"Not sure, maybe I just have quite a few things in my head...What about you? Why are you up at this hour?" Inara asked while Alma sat beside her on the steps. The younger woman glanced over to Miss Peregrine who was wearing her black, long robe. She's like the complete opposite of Inara's colour of choice, she likes to wear light tones, while Alma likes to wear dark and almost black tones
