After the Beautification class, Ilaria is confused when she finds out that her next lesson will be with Professor Dovey teaching about Good Deeds for Evers. The young woman is slightly thankful that she isn't going to be taught about physics or calculus and statistics. Otherwise, she would've just cried throughout her whole lesson.
Anyway, Ilaria sat outside with the other girls near a lake where Professor Dovey was standing right on the edge. "Of course, we don't hate. Evil hates. Good loves. Evil attacks. Good defends." Ilaria doesn't mind Professor Dovey teaching, but she just makes it feel like she's teaching a bunch of little toddlers. "Chinen, when is Good permitted to attack?" She asked one of the students.
"It isn't. Good can only defend. If Good were to attack first, by definition, it'll no longer be Good."
"Precisely! Evil has many weapons, but we...we have animals."
So...we just throw a dog or a cat...or perhaps a lizard even, to defend ourselves? Alright, I think that's pretty dark of me and I'm pretty sure that's not what she means.
"Today, I present to you...Wish Fish, shimmering underwater friends, who understands us and our deepest desires. Ladies, if your wish is strong enough, then they might make it come true." The girls giggled and squealed, "Who's first?"
"Me! Me, me!" Kiko hurried herself at the edge of the lake and dipped her finger in the water where the Wish Fish were. "It's Tristen! He loves me!" Then Beatrix felt the need to rush over at Kiko's spot and just pushed her aside.
"Rude..." Ilaria murmured and then of course, as Ilaria expected, Beatrix's deepest desire was to be with Tedros and admired how perfect they looked.
"The Evers Ball, where many of you may receive your first kiss next week!" The Professor said excitedly, she looked around among the group of girls and stopped at Ilaria. "Ilaria, your turn." She stood up from her seat and walked towards the lake where she closed her eyes and placed a finger in the water.
Any wish...I wish...to see Nonna and Malachi once again...
She heard the little fishes dancing in the water and when she re-opened her eyes, she was happy to see an image of her Nonna and Malachi dancing beside a Christmas Tree. Ilaria stared at the images for only a minute before removing her finger because the longer she looks, the more tears will gather up in her eyes.
"Family is what you wished for, right?" Dovey questioned and Ilaria nodded, "Can I ask what happened to them?"
"I don't want to take up the lesson's time, Professor." Then Ilaria moved away from Dovey and back to her seat. Dovey could sense that something had happened to Ilaria's family, something she will never forget.
The school bell rang loudly, signalling everyone that it is already midday. "Alright, girls! Everyone grab your belongings as it is time for us to have lunch in the school's cafeteria!" Everyone hurried to get their things and followed Professor Dovey.
Upon arriving in the cafeteria, it seems like the other students had already gotten there first and the Never students were being a bunch of haywires, throwing food over at the Ever students who were just trying to have their meal.
The young woman chose the food she wanted and sat on an empty spot. Honestly, Ilaria found her food to be a bit...sour. Not that there was something wrong with the food. No, it was her neighbours. They were talking, screaming and laughing so loudly that Ilaria couldn't find herself to focus on her food.
God, can't they zip their mouths?
She doesn't mind if people were talking every once in a while, but the Nevers were on another level. Ilaria draws out her handkerchief and was about to put the sandwich and bread she took, so she could eat them outside when the ginger head boy she saw yesterday appeared in front of her. "Hi! It's um, Lavelle, right?"
