Gwen and Josephine walked side by side and since the place Gwen wanted to show Josephine was near, there was no need to drive the car. A sudden breeze came crashing at them, "Ohh, coolldd!" The shorter woman commented.
"Don't worry, we're getting closer." Gwen reassured, leading her through an alley. The alley looked weird and dark, Josephine felt like she was in a thriller movie where an attacker could just pop out of the shadow. However, they are in London and London has a lot of tiny passages around the city that lead somewhere.
"Are you sure you're not plotting to kill me? This pathway seems awfully suspicious." Then out of the blue, the tall woman stopped walking causing the other woman to pause too. Very minimal amount of light was shining in the alley, but she could see how eerily slow Gwen turned her head towards Josephine.
"What if I am planning to murder you?" Shivers went all over Josephine's body when she heard that terrifying low tone Gwen used, then there was a pause of silence. The noise of a crowd was gone, it was weird not to hear the loud groups of people that were in the streets.
"G-Gwen?" Josephine's voice cracked as she was, indeed, finding the situation quite frightening. A second later, Gwen broke character and began to hysterically laugh, sending relief to Josephine. "Oh my god..."
"You should've seen your face! You were so scared!" Gwen continued laughing.
"Really, Gwen?!? You really did scare me!"
"I'm sorry, okay?" The tall woman came closer and hooked her arm around Josephine's. "Thriller and horror movies are probably not your thing, huh?" She asked, resuming their walk.
"I don't really have a problem with thriller and horror films because I know they're just films, something to entertain people. However, don't do anything like that again! Otherwise, I'll start throwing things at you from my bag!"
"I bet that would hurt really bad!" Gwen sarcastically said.
After strolling for a few more minutes, the two of them were finally out of the alley and met normal human beings again. They took one last turn and then arrived at this small old bookstore, appearing to be rather worn out. "You wanted to show a bookstore?"
"Yeah, I know you have a thing for classic novels and old literature, so I thought why not bring you here? Another thing is..." Gwen pointed and Josephine followed the finger. There was a poster stuck on the window that said 'Worker Wanted' in a lovely cursive handwriting.
"How did you know I quit my job?"
"Your mum and I were chatting for a little bit not long ago, she mentioned that you weren't happy in the place you were working at and that you quit, then I suddenly remembered this place because I know you'd like it and be happy here."
Josephine was speechless, Gwen had helped her in so many different ways. Gwen had already protected her, helped her with her studies and now, a job that Josephine would certainly love. "Thank you, Gwen...I really mean it." She said with a smile to which Gwen also returned.
"You're welcome. Now come on, let's go in before we freeze our arses out here!" The raven haired woman opened the door allowing Josephine to go in first. The bell on top of the door rang, signalling whoever is working in the place that there are customers.
"Oh wow! It's nice here!" Her eyes wandered around, the shelves were packed with all sorts of novels and the books looked like most of them are second hand.
"Can you wait here for a second? I'll just go get the owner."
"You know the owner?"
"I'll tell you in a minute, okay?" Gwen then disappeared through the walls of bookshelves after Josephine gave a nod. She didn't mind being left alone in a bookstore, the place might be small, but since every nook and cranny of the bookstore was filled with books. Josephine wouldn't mind getting lost in a place like that.
