Just one step. That was all it took. Just one step and he was falling.
True, it had been his own decision to take that one step. However, it still did not mean it felt good to be falling. No, actually, it was scary. Terrifying even.
He closed his eyes. Although he had not wanted to have anything in common with the world anymore, he suddenly realized, he did not want to die. Not like this. It was scarier than being torn to pieces by fierce corpses.
Suddenly, his fall stopped. He looked up and there he was. Lan Zhan.
