Lan Jingyi has been preparing for this conversation for weeks. He had imagined all possible outcomes and he had steeled his heart for them. He wanted to at last understand where he was standing.
He took a deep breath and approached Jin Ling. Then, he asked the question which was not letting him sleep ever since he realized he may be in love with the Lanling Jin sect leader.
"Jin Ling, what am I to you?"
Jin Ling turned to him, confused. He did not think even for a second and replied: "Are we not best friends?"
