The ending of the year approached idly before anyone realized it - that winter break is coming to its expired date. At an eventful temple, people gathered around for the start of the new year. In a cold, chilly weather like this due to countless of snow blanketing town, it didn't stop them from preparing the holiday.
"Ayu, please help Sasuke with a tent beside the game booth."
When she looked up from setting down a tower of buckets, Kurenai ordered her as her black, looped curls are tucked in her large, bubble jacket. Ayu nodded and went over to the dissembled parts that were lying around the feet of the lonesome Uchiha.
She caught him daydreaming again, in a daze and lost in his unlimited thoughts. Encouragingly, she decided to disturb his peace by suddenly holding his wrist, prying him up.
"Now, you didn't volunteer to help with New Year's Festival just to slack off, right?" she announced happily but Sasuke groaned back in response.
Obviously, he finds no interest in doing anything for New Years. The only reason why he came was because of service hours in order to graduate. Satoshi was the one who suggest him to do it in the first place.
But that was the time when he had the motivation to accomplish new things, and now it's just a chore to keep his mind from wondering elsewhere.
"Are you going?" Ayu asked, breaking the silence while fixing the tent. "To the festival, I mean."
"Im busy," Sasuke responded which he earned a suspicious glare from her. "I have better things to do."
She hummed questionably. "Are you really busy?"
"I am. I have to spend the night with my aunt and uncle," he casually explained. "You really think I won't be?"
"Well..." she trailed but never managed to say the words. Truth is she was just making sure he wasn't going to be alone which she knew this is the first year he's going to celebrate a new year without his parents.
Of course, it will worry her.
"Hey!"
"Huh?"
Ayu was too concentrated to notice the whole fort came tumbling down on her as Sasuke tried to reach out the other leg of it, but failed to do so. The mere minute she felt her back hit the cold, cemented ground, she froze when a hand landed over a private section on her chest and then despair rained over her eyes.
"Your hand!"
"What?"
It was then she threw her palm at his face and flipped his world upside down. The Uchiha noticed his mistake by growling. "Damn it, Sasuke! I thought you don't like touching miniature-sized boobs!"
Completely reddened by his unintentional action, he immediately stood from the ground while rubbing his cheek by her overpowering slap. "Idiot. I just don't like touching yours, you ba-ba." This is the second time he has done this, grabbing her.
"That's twice in a row, mister! If you're going to fall, then fall on the ground! Don't make it seem like I'm the reason why you miss."
"Nonsense," he muttered. "You're the last person I want to fall on."
"Whatever," she scoffed, now grabbing onto the legs of the tent off the ground again and build the fort from start.
Sasuke only pouted at her stubborn haughty reaction and joined her. "You're so annoying."
