"This is Satoshi Miyubara. Sorry I'm not in, but please leave a message after the beep."

"Not picking up again, huh?" Sasuke stared down at his phone  with lost eyes before he entered through the boys' restroom in school.

        He sighed.

After Satoshi's last departed moment, it's been hard to keep track how many times he calls him. Not a single word, not even a single letter or call from him since then and it drove Sasuke to the brink of extinction by this sudden occurrence from his best friend. Although he doesn't admit it, but he misses the hell out of that lad, wondering what he's been up to. No one knows for sure what he's doing, surprisingly not even does his girlfriend.

Why are you not picking up?

Disappointment read through his tired eyes as he slipped his cell phone in his breast pocket before stumbling upon his classroom. The first person he sees when coming close to his desk was a particular brunette beside his chair. He couldn't get a peak of her facial expression, but she sat quietly in her seat, head turned to the window with her elbow propped on the desk. She looked as if she's daydreaming.

A sudden urge to annoy her within him seeped through his veins.

"Oww!" Ayu wailed once his notebook slapped onto her forehead.

"Class is over, ba-ba," a scowling Sasuke sneered down at her. Searching for her surroundings, Ayu finally noticed the amount of empty chairs in class and recognized that everyone was gone.

Glowing red, she suddenly pushed the notebook back to his chest from her face and stood up, hoisting her square book bag. "I knew that class ended. You don't have to remind me," she huffed.

"Oh yeah? You've been spacing out again for the past two minutes after the bell," he explained which she was in awe. He caught her, so then he teased. "Don't tell me you're thinking about that pie shop you've been wanting to try."

Ayu grew red by his statement. Now that he mentioned it, it sounded appealing to her. "Oh shut up. I wasn't even thinking about that."

Who was he kidding? The question is not needed about what, or perhaps who, she was thinking about. This isn't the first time it happened, daydreaming out in the open like that. It was becoming a normal habit from her. From what he've heard from Sakura, Ayu is still Satoshi's pride and joy.

Ayu followed him out of class and into the courtyard where the rest of their enthusiastic friends awaits. By first glance at the female brunette, all faces rushed up to her in an instant and bursted her personal bubble. Sasuke just watched contently how the others nagged the living demon in her to force her to come along on this karaoke event they set up.

"Come on, Ayu! I haven't hung out with you for a while!" Naruto cried. "You haven't been out with us ever since Satoshi left."

The look on her face immediately reacted when his name was spoken, but her face quickly masked with a prouder expression.

"It's a nice offer, but I don't want to go out just yet," she said earnestly, but they all saw through it and couldn't accept the decline.

"I know things are different now that he isn't here any more," Ino started, "but it would be good for you to spend some time with us, at least forget about those things for a moment."

As she lowered her eyes, the annoyance was shown through her face but looked somewhat understanding to everyone's vindication. Sasuke expected her to wring herself out of their affliction, somehow they got her to accept it for once. During the time they spent, he didn't see a difference in Ayu's attitude at all like Satoshi's appearance never existed, but he was still suspicious.
